the first crashtest has been performed on a chinese car. the JMC Landwind was the lucky one. although lucky.

conclusion of the test: impossible to survive an impact at 64kmh

look at the vids (and laugh)

meh ... every automobile manufactuer (regardless of origins) had to start from somewhere ... i'm sure if you did crash tests of the first bmw's, benz, etc. now they woudln't exactly be up to par either

Its still fun to watch.

dude, those brands started early 1900, and they were so slow they couldn't crash anyways. and they had nothing to start/compare with.

for this car the chinese bought an opel frontera, and made a copy. and obviously a bad copy. and i actually don't care where they come from or who they are or what they're making, but if they wanne release sth on the european market, it has to be solid.

and certainly not lethal at 64 kmh

Just read it on Spiegel Online. The ADAC (German Automobile club) said that it's the worst car they have ever tested in their history. Ouch !

Now they're asking for a ban on the European market.

Wow. That thing crumbled like a paper cup hurled into a supernova.

Give them time, I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually.

Yep, the only thing that did stop the impact was the dummy... WTF...

I really don't wanna give them time, since it starts to kill people the moment its sold...
If they say, its the worst they ever had, its worse than 10 year old second hand cars...

I have to agree on that.
Anyway why would you want to support some chinese whatever brand when you can buy something actually worth something for only a bit more. (read: Toyota Aygo)

Chinese Governments plan to control their population i presume

One Child Policy. Go back to bashing their cars! :offtopic: ;)

Ouch.

I hope that never goes on sale in that form.

Ah, come on, a little joke doesn't hurt... Hehe, its not a joke, actually, its HILLARIOUS!!!

But remember theres more than one car company from china. We don't decide how good ferrari is by what fiat does.

There are some chinese suv's sold in holland. I don't think they did as bad as the car in the above crash test.

Those cars shouldn't be banned then... ;-)
Only the thread seems to be mislabled...
Correction: "This car IS COMPLETE RUBBISH!!!!"

^ They're base in Holland. I've seen a documentary about the car on telly once and they had to go to the Netherlands to test drive them. So I belive this is the very car you speak about.

//edit: Jianglings man for Europe (The brand who produces the Landwind) is Peter Bijvelds.

oh your fast swek, didn't even let me edit my post quick enough :p

ps. The crash video's are from the dutch automobile club thing.

That's idiotic. This car, like any other, has to fight for it's customers. After all, EU still claims to be a free market. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it. As long it stays that way and as long it isn't more lethal to other cars than an average SUV no government should ban it.

This is the second time ADAC is enforcing opinion rather than solely stating facts. Are Dacia Logan and whatever-it-is LandWind really that big of a threat to the German car industry?

P.S. You'd have be an idiot to buy this car.

If you're stupid enough to buy a car like that, you deserve to die in an accident at 64kmh.
