Chris Evans gives up TFI Friday to focus on Top Gear

The Radio 2 presenter and broadcaster will not be presenting any more series of TFI Friday as he throws his efforts into his new role as Top Gear host

ST was quite damning, if true...
The source added: "They've brought in a production team that doesn't know anything about cars. Writers from Top Gear magazine have had to be called over to suggest ideas and offer advice on what cars to film."

The latest blow for Evans was the loss of his long-time colleague Lisa Clark, just five months after she had been brought in as executive producer on Top Gear. The show's script editor Tom Ford is also departing.

Some like there barely enough hours in the day to do the breakfast and a tv show.

Will Chris end up mainly being the host of the live tv show?

There's no way for new Top Gear to be the same quality as the old one before Chris Evans has it as his only job. This is the reason why CHM made it so great.

Sounds like rats deserting a sinking ship, as speculated in the Clark departure thread. Also lends more credence to the "All new all politically correct newly green righthink Top Gear!" theory.

Competition is a good thing.

This show might give CHM even more incentive to step up their production.
I imagine Jeremy saying "We mustn't allow Top Gear to have the best entertainment show in the UK."

He doesn't need his show to be a success in any one country. While it may be a feather in his cap to get better numbers within the UK, he can get all the numbers from all over. And there is not a one day only aspect to getting the numbers as many will wait and binge watch it.
