He's probably the biggest issue I have with the show right now but it's salvageable. If he stops flitting between a painful Clarkson impression and an exuberant anthropomorphic version of Beaker on acid and starts presenting naturally, he might have a chance. He's not terrible on the radio after all. FACT.

I'm going to watch the next episode but if it's another shout-fest I'm done.

There's no reason for him to be yelling the entire time he's on screen, it gets old very fast.

This this this. I'm now 31 minutes in, it's terrible. The guest segment is terrible. I'm watching it, and thinking "the host needs to shut up and just talk to them, rather than at them".

Hm, I can't seem to find this "behind the scenes" anywhere. Thought the may 31st airdate was the first "New New Top Gear" airing?

My girlfriend and I agreed on the point that Evans is shouting way too much. His voice made our ears bleed. I guess he doesn't shout much when doing radio.

He seems like an arrogant arse, and need to do his own stuff, instead of trying to impersonate JC. Noone can do JC except JC.

I'lll give him 3 series before I start to decide if want him out.
Every now and then, I remember the "fastest faith" and "fastest political party" bits on Clarkson, Hammond & Dawe/May TG and gasp at the progress they made from there.

^exactly!

The bit was shitty but, the presentation of it wasn't so, it wasn't painful to listen to.

I'll give him one more chance; if he keeps screaming, I'll have to give up - it's unbearable.

He's like if one of my aunts tried doing "Adam Savage on Red bull" cosplay.

He kind of reminds me of my sister when I put a spider in her hair.

Your sister has square glasses the size of lunch trays?

Has the "new" Socialist Top Gear started? Poorly acted, scripted rubbish?

Chris Evans was a disaster and will probably be told about it by the ratings of the next episode, but even if they replaced him, which they sadly won't, this incarnation of Top Gear won't work. The main point of TG was its sometimes over-boarding Britishness. It were three blokes trying to delude themselves into believing that Britain was still a great automotive nation and I was usually sitting at home amused by that.

The fact is though, those 22 series of Top Gear are one huge TV ad for Britain. I've learned more about her Majesty's Empire through watching TG than from any other source, at that includes the language, or more precisely, the proper use of it. Nobody could teach the British humour better than May and Clarkson (and no, I don't mean the constant penis jokes)

And now what? One of the main presenters is American. Why? If I want an Americanized TG, I can watch Top Gear USA. And as much as I adore Sabine, she's not exactly British either. They've taken the very core out of TG, and that's why I think it is bound to fail.

Maybe a Matt LeBlanc "hold or Fold" would be an interesting one? The overwhelming majority clearly didn't like CE's performance, but MLB seems to have split opinions a bit more, at a guess I would say 70-30 in favour?
