Clarkson's Farewell Column (TheSun)

I'm not sure why you say it says defender when it says discovery really (which it was in the story JC talked about) ;P

Ooooops :D

What are his real reasons for not wanting to go back to the BBC when they've offered him to come back? After all, nobody expected the BBC to offer to re-sign him that soon, if at all.

- were there some stipulations for a return that he didn't agree to?
- is he still mad at them for the BBC's internal handling of some BBC person apparently likening him to that BBC child molester? That in itself is waaaaaaaaaaaay worse than what Clarkson was guilty of, and yet the BBC remained very quiet on this.
- is it just about money?

It's not the money. He's still in the black thanks to royalties and investments.

Is he still mad at that unnamed BBC exec? That's a part of it, along with the stipulations.

The answer is essentially two-fold.

First, there's a fear that people would be watching TGUK more to see how JC screws up than for the show's actual content. That's a genuine concern, given how people will try to torque *anything* Clarkson says into a clarion call to sack him forever from the airwaves.

Second, there's a concern that TG post-production will involve more than the usual number of execs weighing in on whether to take some stuff out that they consider offensive but anyone with common sense does not.

Both concerns result in the hindering of creativity and spontaneity, both of which are major elements of TG production. There's a certain amount of editorial freedom and risk-taking involved in producing TG episodes, and Clarkson by his behaviour basically ensured that he will never get that for TG. (It would be a different story for his one-off documentaries, mainly because different performance standards come into play.)

And now we know Hammond has an enormous penis. It's always the short guys...
It just looks bigger because it's attached to a smaller body!

This was a great read, thanks for posting it!

So has the Sun released him too then?
