Colin McRae:Dirt

It looks like Forza got bumped off my list for good.

Looks like Dirt just got moved up 8)

Yeah, I'm counting the days till the release

Sorry I just can't sit at the codemasters forum, so I'll ask you:

Is there a career type mode? What is going to make you want to keep playing it? (besides multiplayer)

It wouldn't be a Colin Mcrae game without a career mode and if it is anything like the last, the careers will be pretty long.

Yeah, don't worry: there's going to be an extensive career code. Here's a preview article about it:

Here's what the official FAQ says:

How does the career mode work?
The career mode is a large number of events arranged in a pyramid. Competing in these events will earn you points and money. Points are the main driver of progress as new events and pyramid tiers will open up as you earn points. you will also unlock some cars this way. other cars (and alternative liveries for them) have to be purchased with money, and the amount of money your earn is dictated by the difficulty you compete at in each event. the difficulty is selected before each event, so players can set higher difficulties on what they consider thier specialisms to get more money, or set lower difficlties to pass events they may not be so good at.

What's different about Championship mode?
Championship mode is the "Pure Rally" part of DiRT. Cars that have been won or purchased in Career mode (of classes 4WD, FWD, RWD and Classic) can be used to compete in rally events at varying levels of difficulty and length. single rallies, short championships, and a full world championship are available, and each in an optional "short" or "long" format.

Just spent $190 on [American] football season-tickets.

I may have to wait a couple weeks to buy Dirt.

New personal best on the German track: 2:15:97

Whats everyone else's best?

Can't remember my overall time, but I think my best lap is a 1:08, so you would have me beat. My dad pulled a 1:04 lap on the buggy track, but he's actually raced that track in real life several times (we only live about 20 minutes from Bark River, MI).

I really don't dig the actual rally track with the Mitsu.

I guess because its short and not much fun, definitely one I'll stay away from in the final game.

Yeah, the PC and 360 demos have different tracks for the Mitsu. The track on the PC is a really fun Italian stage,

the car is quite difficult to handle ... maybe because i am using the keyboard? how about the options of car handling? Anyone got the hand in this?

Honestly, the keyboard blows for racing games in general :) Do yourself a favor and get a X360 Controller (USB) or a wheel. I just picked up a X360 controller for like $30, well worth it bro. Nice upgrade from my older controller. The game now handles perfectly.

I was sold the day I played it. Now if I could just afford to buy it.

I'd buy it, but it rapes my video card.

I'll probably just "buy" it for now until I get a better PC.

I run the game will full grafix on my agp but i have the 7600gs 512mb one so mayb you shouldnt invest in a new pc afterall..just get a proper vga card :)

I just can't justify spending a couple hundred bucks for what is basically a marginal upgrade, especially being how poor I am. Rather save the money and put it toward a really major upgrade.

i can't believe a 7600gs is working better than my 7900gs. WTF? maybe my CPU needs tuning, it's only a 4200 after all :(

Or you could just buy an Xbox 360 and stop worrying about upgrading your computer every year to play the latest games :p
