Is Pontiac Back?

In the latest Car and Driver magazine, on the inside of the back cover, there is a Pontiac ad complete with "Screaming Chicken." Is Pontiac coming back?

Why would GM pay to advertise a dead brand? I have many questions and as many doubts.

Still more than they did for the SS sedan.
 
Gauge interest perhaps. Though with the best will in the world this would be a money loser of a project whatever shape it takes unless GM gets it absolutely right, which seems unlikely.
