That used to be a trick they used in some of the "ye oldy" Castle stairs... Make one stair taller than the rest, so that when fleeing from invading army's soldiers you got a small head start by avoiding that step and the rest would trip on it...
 
I love that robot at the end and how they didn't bother in creating a separate machine to take the waste away, they just had the robot flick it off the machine with the knife. The only way that would have been cooler would be if the robot stabbed into it and tossed it halfway across the room into a rubbish bin.
