Celebrating Le Mans success

Limited edition of 250 Corvette Coupes will arrive in Europe at the beginning of March

To celebrate the success of Corvette in sports car racing ? and in particular the prestigious Le Mans 24-Hour event, a limited series of just 250 ?Victory Edition? Corvette Coupes is being produced. Since Corvette Racing made its debut in 1999, the team has won over 50 races, including five class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 2001 and 2006.

The Victory Edition Corvette is based on the Corvette C6 Coupe which shares strong links with the Corvette C6.R race car and the high performance version Corvette Z06. The Victory Edition offers the LS2 6.0L V-8 engine producing 297kW (404 hp) and 546 Nm of torque, matched to a rear-mounted transaxle that helps improve vehicle weight distribution. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, with the option of an electronically controlled 6-speed Paddle Shift transmission with automatic modes.
The Victory Edition Corvette is available in two colours reflecting the Corvette racing heritage; Black or Velocity Yellow Tintcoat, distinguished by Competition Grey aluminium wheels, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear. A body-colour wide rear spoiler is a further distinguishing feature.

The interior features two-tone leather seats with Corvette flag emblems and contrasting stitching. Cars with the black exterior feature an ebony and red theme while ebony and titanium grey colours mark the interior of Velocity Yellow cars. Both interiors are further enhanced by Competition Grey door sill plates, a carbon-look interior trim package and a unique, numbered ?Victory Edition? badge.

The Victory Edition Corvette features a DVD Navigation System with touch screen and voice guidance, along with a Luxury Package. This includes heated seats, a memory package with presets for two drivers for the 6-way power driver?s seat, exterior mirrors and powered telescopic steering wheel. A head-up display including G-force meter, auto-dimming inside rear view mirror and a premium Bose? 7-speaker sound system.

Every Corvette Victory Edition will get a numbered car identification interior badge. And, as part of their ownership experience, buyers are invited to participate in a 1 day free Corvette Drivers Training event with professional instructors at selected race tracks across Europe.

The Corvette Victory Edition will be available in Europe at the beginning of March 2007.

Smart move on their side. I wonder if anyone has noticed the success in racing though. The Viper is known as a racing car but the Vette is news to me.

Besides that it's a shame that when the car reaches our shores it will go for supercar money.

*who secretly loves carbon fiber interior bits. Just don't tell anyone please.

Has anyone noticed the Vette in racing? News to you? You realize Team Corvette has basically won Le Mans and ALMS since 2001, right? Not to mention their huge success in FIA GT, Speed World Challenge, etc. The Corvette's racing history goes back to 1953. Hell, Corvettes raced in Le Mans way back in 1968 and set a record for top speed on the straight in the GT class of 191mph (previous record was about 170mph), the set it. The Corvette had class wins in 1973 and 1974. The Corvette's racing heritage is just as rich as Porsche's or Ferrari's.

"Victory in Le Mans..." "All-American coupe bound for Europe" "Victory edition" "Celebrating victory in France"

Anyone else drawing some parallels here?

Maybe they need to offer it in another color scheme:

I want a vette.. :p i wold sell myself for one..

Isn't Z06 just better? These Corvette special editions seem to be just regular Corvettes with fancy interiors/exteriors.

The recent LM wins by the C6 were pretty well known, in the US atleast.
This special edition is nothing special except it'll be worth a bit more a few years down the line.

Okay, I thought this was perfectly clear since it's a special edition for Europe. What I meant is that I wondered if anyone in Europe took notice. If I'm any indication of the average buyer they can expect utter ignorance from our side.

Keep in mind that the Vette doesn't really exist here. No history no nothing except for the true petrolhead who's informed about it or follows the series mentioned.

I thought Le Mans and FIA GT were big in Europe....

Me too...8)

I like the crossed out Swastikas. Do you think you would get in trouble for painting a car like an airplane, with the crossed out signs?

Give me the wheels and leave me alone. Haha jks - nice car, shame about the interior. The carbon fiber makes it look cooler but the interior was already shit before then...

I wouldn't imagine so...but it would be more fitting on a "Mustang" dressed up in P-51 Mustang livery...and bring it to the beaches of Normandy and do some fat powerslides in the sand with an open exhaust, bouncing the engine off the rev-limiter to make some RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT sounds.

Ya know what? I kinda like it... even the interior
