Cosworth Graveyard - Don't click Posmo, you might cry.

Sorry I was referring to the difference between the Sierra and Xr4i in general.

I'd still imagine it would be cheaper to buy the Cosy parts separately and bolt them on a Xr4i than shipping and importing one to the US. What body differences are there besides the window?

And no having one different sticker or piece of trim does not mean "OMG OMG DIFFERANT KARZ!!!!!" as we have discussed elsewhere.

Bigger transmission tunnel at least, consult Passionford or some other site for a more detailed explanation.

The car that makes me most sad of all those rotting cossies it the Moonstone blue 3dr, it was the rarest colour of the 3, and IIRC they only made a bit over 1000 of them. (And if my eyesight is correct, it has a WOLF sticker on the back, which makes it ever rarer. I'd also love one of the 87-89 Cosworths with amber indicators. :( Such a shame that those cars are not on the road, Im sure just about any car person would be happy to take one on as a project.

EDIT: Counted the cars on street view, and he has around ~15 Cosworths rotting away. In good condition they would fetch well over 200 000? overall.. Makes no sense..

That looks like a situation that could be rectified by filing a complaint with the enviromental protection agency.

There is no difference in the transmission tunnel, it's the same on all sierras.
On a bare shell there's no difference between a cosworth and a regular sierra. The only sierra that is different is the xr4i. And its only the sidewindows that is special on it (on the bare shell).

Yes there is. On Passionford they were able to differentiate a cut-n-shut by the transmission tunnel not being a Cosworth one. The one in Cosworths is slightly bigger, but it serves no actualy purpose, since the B&W T5 will fit into any Sierra shell. It's only bigger on the mk. 1 cars though, the mk. 2 cars all have the same trans tunnel.

Never heard of that before. Cant be much of a difference since everything around it can be interchanged.

IIRC It had something to do with the Racing RS500 gearboxes. The standard Sierra tunnel is not big enough for them, so they enlarged the on in the Cosworths to make more room (as the Rs500's are based on Standard Cossie bodyshells) It's only a few cm I think though, so not much of a difference. And yeah, Cosworth bits bolt straight up on a stock Sierra body. :)

Interesting. So it was enlarged on road cars just for homologation or they enlarge it on all the shells to give the works and privateers access to more shells.

The first racing Sierras in 1986 were not RS500's, just regular Cosworths, as it came out in '87, whereas the first general Cosworths came out in '85. The Cosworths that were racing in '86 were most changed to Rs500 spec in '87, which Ford anticipated, and made the trans tunnel a bit bigger on all Cosworths, as the Bodyshell needed to be the same on '86 RS Cosworths and '87 RS500 Cosworths. The RS500 road cars also had an extra fuel rail, which is not in use. Just a trick to get around regulations ;)

Martin from Rimbo doesnt appear to write anything on the forums himself, altough there are much chatter about him. Seems like a 50/50 dodgy fellow, some call him guru, other say he's a phony. Other than his adress and phone number I've got nothing on him. Flashback didnt even know about the graveyard.

Most threads are just "I spoke to Rimbomartin and he said..."

According to a friend that owns a Cosworth and hangs on a number of Cosworth forums, Martin have built some engines and turbos over the years, but i don't know how sucessful they have been. Some say it's crap and other says he's misunderstood. Odd fellow, either way.

Here is my friends car by the way, a Escort Cosworth Monte Carlo Edition, number 140 out of 200 made.

^ I had no idea they only made 200 Monte's, there was one parked daily last summer about 2 km from where I live.

Mercedes Law dictates that a car needs to be 25 years old to be imported into the US.

1 more year to go for the 3 door Cosworths then.

This is just horrible. :sad::cry:

And also confusing. Why would anyone do this to valuable Cossies? Listen Swedes, we have a major Cossie-heist to execute. Who's with me? :)

Give me one of the sierra 4-doors and i'm in.

Three men per truck, one truck per car - all need to be rollbacks because we don't know for certain which ones will roll on their own wheels (plus breaking in to undo the handbrakes takes time)

One man to keep his ass planted in the driver's seat, one to run the hydraulics and winch, one to chain it up.

That's not a heist - you're looking at AT THE VERY LEAST an hour in and out because of the tight spaces and the cars being parked in clusters. Which probably means you'll have to murder anyone who shows up to question you.

I'm game. Lets get this done.
