I know this is a repost, but I don't know where the original was.
IIRC Posmo himself has posted some pics earlier.

Save the Cosworths! Are some of those old enough to be imported to America yet?

Sierras are I think. There are number of RS500s in the US and Canada. A few members on the Merkur forums had them. There are probably more.
1985 is the magic number... since the Sierra Cosworth RS started production in 1986 we have to wait one more year.
willing to bet those are XR4Ti conversions (or illegal) There used to be a canadian company that made full RS500 (and RS Cosworth) body kits for the XR as well as doing drivetrain conversions. But i know for sure none of the Cosworth versions of the Sierra are legal for importation as of the last published NHTSA list (we can get the Escort RS Cosworth 1994-1995 thought)

Even when it becomes legal it would be far cheaper to just turn a XR4Ti into a Cosworth.
Not if you want a 100% swap, you'd need to change just about everything, including the bodyshell.
No it won't be a 100% swap, but the cars are 98% identical. The rear window isn't that big a deal.
A Cosworth and a normal Sierra sure as hell are not 98% identical.. For instance every single drivetrain part is different, and most of the suspension, the brakes, the engine, the gearbox, the bodyshell and the interior are different. It'd cost you more to buy a Cossie in parts and swap it over than to buy a genuine one. And in my opinion the Xr4i rear side window looks really stupid with the Cossie bodykit.
Sorry I was referring to the difference between the Sierra and Xr4i in general.
I'd still imagine it would be cheaper to buy the Cosy parts separately and bolt them on a Xr4i than shipping and importing one to the US. What body differences are there besides the window?
And no having one different sticker or piece of trim does not mean "OMG OMG DIFFERANT KARZ!!!!!" as we have discussed elsewhere.

I remember 2 specifically. One was owned by a guy in Canada and the other was from New York City. I'm about 99.99% sure that both of them were genuine. The latter was owned by the founder of one of the forums, www.merkursport.com. Sadly, it was stolen a few years ago
