Oh dear ! Justin is a Sony fanboy aswell.

There's no such thing as _the_ console. All platforms have pros and cons. You're seriously missing out here...

From what I understand with the issue, like most other things on the internet, it's a bit out of proportion. Also, Microsoft is offering to fix any problems for free. Wait, let's expand that "free" a bit:

Microsoft will pay shipping to and from your address, repair your XBox 360 -- or in worse cases replace it -- and return it to you for the low low cost of nothing.

And for your info, I own 3 PS2s, and nothing else (though I would like to get an XBox...)

People that waited for hours in line got pwned.

I got a messed up release date PS2, but difference is that died out on me a year after I bought it, not the same night.

Nowadays every minor glitch becomes a Internet Hype... I guess 99% of the consoles work as they should...

Sounds like Macrofuckup rushed it far too much. "OOHHH WE GET TO BEAT THE PS3 TO MARKET!!! WE ARE TEH SUPERIOR!!!"

How sad sad sad. Something tells me that the next gen console contest isn't going to be a contest at all, and the people that have already bought a 360 will be wishing they hadn't in about a year's time...

Maybe you all would like to read YF19pilot's. Post again.

And probably only about 1 to 2% of the total consoles may be having this problem.

Been playing since tuesday with mine. The small problem mine has is it doesn't like standing up, it likes to lay flat.

Every single thing about it is well thought out though. Especially the live integration

And the whole song/microsoft thing.. cmon they are both big heartless companies that want your damned money, give it a break. The xbox is a great peice of electronics, The ps3 will be too. Buy Both.

So, 2% of an estimate 2,000,000 consoles is still a full 20,000 defective units, and that's just the ones that screw up in the first few days. I suspect we'll be seeing numbers closer to 5-10% as the weeks go on.

You have a point there, but I think the same statistic will be true when PS3 comes out.

I'd be up for a wager on that. I have my doubts. No doubt Sony has watched the 360 launch intently. They will make certain that their launch is smoother.

Or it will be a repeat of the PS2 launch.... Sony doesn't learn, period... They continue to try to push formats people don't want (ATRAC, Betamax, Blu-Ray).

As for the glitches, most of them are a result of people putting the power supply where it can't get any air, on a carpeted floor or something of the like. If you were to place it properly on a surface such as a wooden floor or an entertainment center, it would not have these problems.

Sony will have these problems as well, just wait and see, product launches never go perfect, and Sony will screw up just as bad somewhere, just wait and see.

For the sake of everyone and mankind, I hope to God Blu-Ray wins the format battle. It is so far superior to HD-DVD it is not funny. Console preference aside.

Well, I think at the end of the day, the defective units will all have some component that was sourced from the same vendor. For instance, a batch of cooling fans that dont run correctly could account for these problems.

For you Sony fanboys, how do you know that your PS3 wont try to rootkit all the PCs on your network?

I see, so Blu-Ray with its Rootkit technology is superior? I'm not a fan of the Blu-Ray DRM, so I'd rather support HD-DVD if I had to.

I actually hope both fail miserably, I want to see more internet distribution of HD content. That's what Microsoft is banking on with the xbox360, that network is the future of content delivery. The success of HD over Internet is all up to broadband providers to actually make happen, but I think with providers starting to provide fiber to homes, it's closer than many think.
