CrowdStrike code update bricking Windows machines around the world

An update to a product from infosec vendor CrowdStrike is bricking computers running Windows.

The Register has found numerous accounts of Windows 10 PCs crashing, displaying the Blue Screen of Death, then being unable to reboot.

“We're seeing BSOD Org wide that are being caused by csagent.sys, and it's taking down critical services. I'll open a ticket, but this is a big deal,” wrote one user.

Thankfully we don't use that at work, but it could happen with any piece of software. Some heads may be rolling within the business.

Good thing we don't use that at work as well - with one supporter on leave, one on sick leave and one who does more administrative work than 1st level support I'm currently pretty much alone...

That said, as @Matt2000 wrote it can happen with every security software - every virus scanner can receive a faulty update, Windows Defender had that type of false positive at least twice AFAIR.
