Dakar prologue suspended after accident

About 10 people were injured, several seriously, Saturday when a competitor's car veered off the course.

I really have no comment here. I feel sorry for the injured and the driver/co-driver... but this is classic 'raid' stuff.

If enough stupid (sorry, but they are...) people stand close enough to a road with rally vehicles flying by flat-out, sooner or later someone WILL get hurt.

Damn, this is getting as bad as it was at the end of Group B. The rallies I enjoyed watching at Sherwood Forest were cancelled last year as the safety restrictions were tightened and they couldn't get enough marshals, no doubt that this was caused by the actions of spectators previously.

Lots of rallies are non-spectator only too which is a shame.
