what??
Bad PR / reputation damage.

Gone all around the world as Audi cheat.

He was driving as an official Audi Sport driver in an official FE sim race. Clear breach of contract. Audi could have been looking to get rid of him anyway.

Sim racing has gone to another level and the engagment and interaction with the fans has exploded. No longer just a computer game.

Stupid thing is it might wreck the family business, if Audi further distance themselves from Abt.

No one gives a shit, would have been forgotten tomorrow. Must be Audi using it as an excuse to get rid of him.
Just because nerds watch sim racing doesn't mean the masses care, Abt didn't even care enough to drive himself.

Edit: his response, cancel culture sucks...

I thought he was an idiot but his response makes him a twat. To say it just doesn't matter and that he didn't try to hide that it wasn't him (which he did by obscuring the camera) is a massive insult to anyone else taking part.

I don't care about the sport but it sounds like it's better off without him. I translated the comments on the video and everyone is treating him like the messiah. Wow.

I also think it's a bit of an overreaction
What TK did to Sainz in the indy race, was way worse if you ask me, but that passed with a grin and a shrug

Several drivers said now they're contemplating if they should continue with the eraces. For most of them it's still a game and a time-passer, but if it starts having real world consequences, they'll just find another hobby

When I first heard about this my reaction was, "That's the most F1 thing I've ever heard about F1."

This is pathetic. Without rampant cheating e-sports will never reach the glory of the real thing. Hell, these dweebs aren't evening having Nazi themed sex parties.
