DAT file

hey i recently downloaded a new movie *cough blade trinty cough* and i emulated it and in the "MPEGAV" file is a DAT file, which is big, so i assume the movie is there, but then i donno what to open it with as the icon is the funyn one which tells you "what the fuck do open with?"

try windows media player?

Try using Nero ShowTime, which you should be able to download.
That plays most movie file types, and should play DAT.

I think windows media players plays it... it plays the DAT file on VCD's

if you load it into GSpot it may be able to tell what type of file it is...cause it may be named wrong, it was able to me a file was a RAR archive.

the extention for kazaa's temp files is DAT, big chance it's an unfinished file

Yeah, and some times too, if it says it completed it may have but Kazaa didn't change the file name, so just put the file back in the download directory, and open up kazaa, and it should fix the file if that's were you got it from

Just use Virtual Dub and convert it to AVI

Aren't .DAT extensions used for VCD files?
If so you should be able to play them in WMP (I think), otherwise try renaming it to .MPG.
