I'll take the opportunity now that we have a brand spanking new section to what everyone thinks about having a dedicated LFS server of our own?

I think it'd be great to be able to jump on the server and just hang out during weekdays, and then have "official" races on weekends.

Obviously the big question would be hosting.

Do you think this would be useful at all?

P.S. I'm in no position to actually make this happen.

I don't think there' that big of a need. It'd either be empty or have random people on it if it wasn't passworded. I think it's best if people plan ahead of time to play.

I only play on weekends so it would be no use for me. I also think we should keep it once a week. Too much candy makes you sick. ;)

Yes, cause it would be nice to get people from here, outside the preset times.

It would have to be passworded though

You can download the demo (1 track, 3 different cars), and usually we play for a little bit in demo mode, and then we switch to the full game (which you can't connect to with the demo).

So, a dedicated server means that somebody has to leave his computer on all the time while he won't be playing it.

So you still have to meet up and discuss data..

I guess this is one of these ideas where everyone votes yes and we end up with a empty server. I've voted no.

Yep, it was just a thought.
I was just probing to see if any of the huge bandwidth people had any thoughts about this, and I'm not pressuring or hinting or anything like that (seriously).

I was figuring it would be empty most of the time, but if someone was running a server for other purposes anyway... you know...
