Hello All,
This my first post... I've been lurking around for quite sometime... since I discovered the possibility of watching the whole show... I live in Brazil and we've got only the BBCWorld half hour version here.
Now, I am kinda addicted... So first I'd like to thanks Vuk and the others for amazing work for the petrolhead kind living in places BBC2 deprived.
One of the most interesting things for me... besides all the jokes that are not included in the BBCWorld version... is the cool wall. Here is very hard to see mainstream media people giving straight opinions about cars... or about many other products with big advertising budgets...
For me is amazing to watch millions of dollars in propaganda efforts to convince people that some car is cool disappear when JC move the pictures around.
But there is a problem.
I really trust JC's opinion about the quality and feel of the ride, performance, etc... Not many people in the world actually drove all those cars. But coolness is not something that is decided by the bloke on the driver seat. Coolness is decided by the people looking at the bloke in the drivers seat.
Some months ago there was a discussion about the cars in the cool wall here... but it was not very productive...
It is almost impossible to discuss the coolness of a car in a forum thread.
Last week I was customizing a php gallery to evaluate the performance of brazilian politicians (we are in a major political crises here) and had a idea... why not adapt the script to create a "democratic cool wall"? A place to gather the people's voice on what is cool...
Here is the result:
http://coolwall.br101.org/
I still need to input some tecnical data about the cars and maybe include some top gear's quotes from the huge thread that I saw here, but most of the cool wall is there.
Not sure if the site is working properly... or if the idea is stupid or offensive... any feedback is welcomed.
Sorry for the broken english
