Diecast Models

I just arrived home with a new car i bought with Christmas money.

I was torn between this, a Mclaren from the 80's with Ayrton Senna, an a Ferrari F2 car from the 50's. Decided to get the McLaren because it was cheaper, i haven't got a modern F1 car, and it was the last in the shop.

According to wikipedia, Mclaren and Mercedes didn't join until 1995. Heres what I could find about that car

Launched in Australia at the beginning of the 1998 Grand Prix season, the West McLaren Mercedes MP4/98T was the world's first tandem Formula One car. The unique race car was designed by Gordon Murray to mirror the performance of then contemporary Grand Prix grid and allows a passenger, seated directly behind the driver, to experience the power and exhilaration of a Formula One car. Safety and comfort were fundamental to the design criteria, based on the forces experienced in a Formula One car.

Incorporating many of the F.I.A. driver/passenger safety regulations, the MP4/98T has increased side-impact absorption to safeguard the passenger. Each passenger was seat-fitted using techniques prevalent in Formula One. This specialist foam seating is fitted into the carbon fibre monocoque. A six-point F1 harness seat belt system further insures the safety of the passenger. A carbon fibre honeycomb composite structure, faced with 75 mm (3.0 in) of conforfoam padding separates the driver and passenger helmet area. Specified according to the F.I.A. impact absorption regulations, this conforfoam design is duplicated on the rear of the headrest structure to protect the passenger in the event of a frontal impact. Together with the head restraint they provide rearward and frontal impact absorption for the driver/passenger configuration. A passenger/driver alert button completes the safety elements.

Numerous celebrities have been passengers in the car, including: Max Mosley, Murray Walker, King Juan Carlos and Erja H?kkinen.

I do belive the car may be based as it was in 2000. It has Mika and his wife Erja. I can't seem to find any good photo;s of that specific pairing. Looking at some of the other pictures though, i see some other sponsors are on the car. For example, the Barge Boards, there is no Siemens logo, but Computer Associates.

Porsche 911 Carrera RS <3

It's not technically a diecast, since it's a resin model, and a rather crappy pic, but here's something I had made especially for me. It's a one-off version of the MR Collection Models 1:18 8C Spider, made to reflect my real car's specs in every detail.

Any close up shots? I'd love to see the details on that roadster!

Here's my tiny collection of die-casts I gathered over the past 20 years. Sorry for the crap camera phone pic quality.

My 20 1/18s:

Smaller scales and tractors:

My favorite trio:

1/24s and smaller scales I don't have displayed (pics from 2 years ago):

simply lovely

Yes, that's one of the standard versions of the model. Mine is 1 of 1, I gave MR Models the spec sheet of my real 8C and had them make me a custom version.

3 new models to start in 2010 :D

Holy shit, that Montreal model looks awesome. My next die-cast purchase will be either the Montreal, Espada, Corvette C5 or C6 Z06.
