Difference between BBC World's TG and the er.. real one.

The 3rd season of Top Gear was started on 9.30pm, Thursday (Malaysian Time). There are so many differences and cuts I decided that it might not be worth watching.

1. BBC World Top Gear is < than 30 minutes. Long commercials.
2. Only 2-3 car reviews per episode only. No celebrity, fun stuff.
3. One of the changes I might be expecting to see is the use of songs. For example, in the Lotus Exige review, they played Paranoid by Sabbath but in BBC World they played some unknown song.
4. In season 2, they occasionally take segments from other different episodes.

This totally sucks. Thank god for you VUK and Viper007Bond and the people who have contributed.
 
We have the same prob here in Norway...they cut and chop the program down to 20 mins from 60.....it sux....

Same prob here in Holland, but lately they start showing full episodes so thats nice..

I just watch the BBC episode anyway, no subtitles and the newest eps.
 
BBC World is the one that screws it up like that.
 
No i have BBC 1 and BBC 2, but sometimes the cablecompany does something and i get BBc world for a month and we can vote on that...next month something different
 
I'm in Belgium and Germany, both show BBC-World only ... at first I thought it's normal for TC to be only 20 minutes at all. (even this 20 min choped to bits TC is far better than all the german crap they call tv-motorshow :p)

anyway, you can Imagine how overjoyed I've been as I found the torrents of VUK and Viper007Bond. many thanks!!!! :)

I also thought Top gear only lasted ca. 20 mins, as they show the chopped-up version here in NOrway as well ..

In Poland we have a full show, but the music is changed. This week it was the episode with a test of VW Golf R32 and you could only see Stig's CD attached to the dashboard with some crappy music in the back, no idea what, and no comment at all... Good thing I've seen the original test :)

Guess this soundtrack changing must have something to do with copyrights of the songs they play. Maybe they've got the right to play them only in UK...

Other thing is that it's dubbed by a lector, and translation is awful. When JC said about Miura being the first mid-engine car they translated it to a first car with middle engine :oops:

The only good thing is that it is a full show and I get to see all the episodes I missed since first one of series one. :D
 
i watched tg on bbc world once and gave up on it. on top of the fact that it stinks, the car reviews are ones that they'd shown on bbc at least a couple weeks before

Ack, i should have been a little clearer.
The Top Gear that's aired on BBC World (20 minute bastardized version), is not only shorter, but airs at least a couple weeks after the FULL version is up for download on this site.
Hence BBC world and their 20 minute hack job stinks, NOT Top Gear itself.

*Whew* You're lucky on that one. The TG faithful were getting set to gang beat you here :mrgreen:

Yeah, we've heard the gripes about the BBC World's idea of a car show - that's the main purpose of this site - to distribute the full, unadaltered versions of the masterpiece that is known as Top Gear (and Fifth Gear, I guess :p).

Oh, and welcome to the boards :D
