I always had a thing for this kind of stuff. So, show me vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes, buses ...) made by different manufacturers but sharing the same name. Let's start with :

What if you are Honda and you recycled old scooter/powersport names to your passenger vehicles?

Honda Odyssey

Honda Passport

Honda did it again, they have a motorcycle called the Integra now.

Also FIAT 850... and probably their Zastava and SEAT derivatives. SEAT hasn't always been a VAG brand, it started out as Yet Another Communist Car Maker making FIAT knockoffs.

Volvo's new small sedan for the turn of the century was going to be called S4, but some guys from Ingolstadt had something to say about that. So they added a zero to make S40.
And Peugeot was not allowed to call their 1007 "one-double-oh-seven".

I can't be bothered to post that many pictures in here but both PSA (Citro?n) and GM (Corvette) has had everything from C1 through C6 at some point. There's no Citro?n C7, though.

Isn't the numbers kinda cheating? Especially in BMW's case, with the 1st digit being the series and 2nd & 3rd the engine size?
Not really, considering how consistently they ignored the displacement in naming their cars, and not just recently, like the E28 528e having a 2.7L engine.

Peugeot ran out of numbers. In the future, the number 8 in 208, 508 etc will mean an upscale model for the western market. "1" at the end will mean cheap cars for emerging markets like China. We already got a new "mk2" 308 and there will be a new 208 and 508 as well, supposedly.

And the fact that BMW is "cheating" with their "displacement" is just a sign of the times. It makes no sense these days to waste money on producing a bunch of different actual engines when you can change a line of code and add or subtract 50hp.

Volvo nomenclature used to make perfect sense until about when the 700 series came out. 164 = 100 series, 6 cylinder, 4 doors. 245 = 200 series, 4 cylinders and 5 doors (=wagon). Then they changed the last digit to 0 for all the cars and eventually brought out a 760 with a turbo 4-pot. Everyone still knows what you mean when you say "Volvo 855" though. It's obviously an 850 estate even though it wasn't ever officially called that.

Every manufacturer just using numbers will end up in this list sooner or later. ;)

I consider the Corvette vs Citro?n thing more blatant. Internal code names... The Audi 100/A6 is also a C1 to C7. ;)

But Corvette is actually marketing their "C numbers" aren't they?

Some internal codes are less internal than others. Everyone (to an extent) knows what a W124 or W210 is, but ask an Octavia owner if they have a 1U5 or 1Z5 and all you'll get is a "" I didn't know either and had to look up what the codes were for this post. :p I'll forget it shortly after submitting it.

It's also funny and sometimes sad when a model name from one car ends up on a completely different class of car.

I also seem to remember Holden rehashing nameplates from GM USA, but I can't recall any of them off of the top of my head. Brougham something something maybe?
