I work for an even larger multinational corporation with offices in nearly every country, and for us, a national TV advert in any market would get approval from HQ. Perhaps Yum! Brand does things differently, and if so, fair play to them, as American racial baggage need not apply to others.I doubt that KFC Aus has to go to US Head Office for approval, or else why have an Aus Head Office.
But you can be certain it was KFC US who gave the directive to have the ad pulled.
In the statement released here they apologised to anyone who misinterpreted it. Which is exactly what happened.
