do you work out?

I have no idea how tall I am but I weight about 75kg... the only form of proper exercise I do is biking and golf (if it is considered as a sport) ... I cannot really play ball games that much anymore due to an injury on my ankle a few years back

i tend to go with a friend to a workout-thing, where not a lot of people go, i don't like it when lots of people are around
it's by a guy who helps sporters recover afther injury, and his whole upperfloor is fitted with machines

but we only go several times a week for a couple of months, and then for no apparent reason, stop going for a couple of months, until we're fed up with doing nothing again, and pick up where we left

there is no free help from them though, a couple of years ago i used to go to another one, where they hade several programs of workout, and help you, but the dude killed himself on his bike and it closed :(

i anyone has such programs, feel free to post :)

I have my own dumbells which i hardly ever use as mostly cuz i dont have time and at other times i cant be bothered
I really should be startin 2 exercise more :?, and will probbly join the gym, as wen ever i used to go b4 they wud kick me out cuz i was too young lol

i really want to start working out.. only time i work out is with a friend of mine.. where he tells me what to do.. but when he is gone i have no idea

UltraKoolDude.. maybe you can help me out.. i wanna go to the gym everyday but i have no idea what to work out and what machines to use.. and also.. what muscles to work out together.. like do biceps, triceps, chest and shoulders.. or do chest, shoulders, legs.. i dont know anything.. maybe you can give me some tips..

Have you tried climbing? That will eventually get you big, rockhard abs, biceps and lower arms. Then again...I climb because I like to climb, not to get big muscles or lose weight. I just can't motivate myself to pull weights.

Let's start a workout support group!

What's your weight Viper - and what's your goal? Then I can check up on you in a month to see how it's going.
Last time I weighed myself, I was 145 lbs, but I'm probably 150 or 155 by now. Oh, and I'm 6 feet tall.

You call that fat!?!? Dude, I'm about your age, about 6' tall, and I weigh in at 170!!

Is this fat?

Sure thing -

What's your current height/weight? What's your body type (Ectomorph, Mesomorph, Endomorph)? Body fat percentage (do your abs show)? What are your goals? I assume you have access to a gym then?

A good workout schedule is a six day cycle:
day 1: chest and triceps
day 2: legs
day 3: rest
day 4: back and biceps
day 5: shoulders
day 6: rest

This combines muscles that are often worked out together anyways (back and biceps).

Give me your information and I'll try to get you where you want.

i'm 5 foot 8... i weigh 144 pounds.. and heres the only pic i could find of my abs... i know it looks gay lol

problem with the gym is that its kinda intimidating when you go in and everyone is buff'd out and ur skinny as fuck and find it differcult to lift half the amount of weights compared to the guy next to you

I know what you mean, I've worked out with some monsters before too. I was only 145 pounds (at six feet tall), but most of those guys are really friendly and are really willing to help you out if you need it. It's almost like a bit of a fraternity.

First a compliment - you're not looking bad at all. It looks like if you shed a few pounds of fat, and gain a few of muscle you'll be looking cut up.

I'd suggest that you don't worry too much about cardio, and focus on the weight training. As you body heals after a workout, your body will use extra calories, so you should be able to drop some fat and gain muscle at the same time.

I'd say do that 6 day workout routine that I posted, don't worry if you take a day off once and a while, just use it as a rough guide. Try to find a routine that you can maintain - if going to the gym 4 times a week is too much of a chore, then just go twice a week (it's better than stopping after a few weeks). Listen to your body - if your still a little sore from your chest and leg workout, then wait until you're recovered to go back for your back and bicep workout.

I'd say 3 or 4 exercises for each body part, 3 sets of each exercise, and around 6-12 reps for each set should be alright. Let me know if you need specific exercises. These should suit your goals. If you want overall size than compound movements (bench press, dead lift, squatting etc) are the best - if you want a leaner body then you can concentrate more on isolation movements (like curling).

Cheers

thanks man.. i am gonna start going next week when i get back.. it ok if i keep asking you questions the first week? like let you know what i tried doing and you tell me if thats good or not.. or what i should change.. until i get into a system of workouts.. thanks a million man.. appreciate it

Actually I'm rather fat... But I've been working out for 1,5 years constantly... Before that, it was like a year training and one off after it:-(
Somehow, I can get my weight down... Going to the Gym at least 2 times a week, 3 times a week jogging, eating less and more healty... It just doesn't happen 8)

Anyway, I got a girlfriend and I always had them around, so it doesn't bother me that much...

BTW, I hardly use machines, just weight...

I would stick to doing pushups if you want to work out your pecs, it is the closest you can get to a benchpress without weights. If it starts to get too easy for you to do them, you can also have someone put some weight on your back with their arm and then their legs. If you can get to the point where you can do push ups on the tips of your fingers with someone sitting on your back, you will have wicked pecs, and abs too.

Depending on your physique, you might not be able to put anything on your chest until you work on your back. If you were working with weights, you would want to ensure that your back is at LEAST as strong as your chest. I learned the hardway a long time ago, and was able to bench far more than I could pull. Ended up screwing up my rotator cuffs like that, especially given that I didn't have a specific shoulder exercise.

IMO, stay away from the Pec Deck "aka the Wreck Deck", I have known more people to tear shoulder muscles on the Pec Deck, especially the ones that force you to hyperextend to get your arms into the machine. Watch out for those.

While it might work your triceps a touch, you can always try getting things like bags full of sand or rocks, lie on your back and then try performing flyes to get your pecs to grow.

IMO a physique is 50% genetics, 25% hardwork, weights and discipline and 25% diet and SLEEP.. you need sleep to repair the muscle damage, otherwise NOTHING will grow if the muscles are never given time to recover.
