Don't let money change ya

It appears you've put the tops frame together different from the way it came apart. It looks like one of the rear supports is missing as well as one of them being in the wrong spot.

Huh? Thats not actually out cars. I just found it funny how an NB just like LeVeL's and an NA just like mine were parked right next to each other.

I thought the post I looked at was from this year - turns out it was from last year, I should have quoted it, my mistake.

What I was talking about is this. This is what the top looked like before,

This is after. The skin appears the same, it just looks like the supports are wrong.

Did some digging in stacks of old DVDR's today. Found these on a disc with "car junk" written on it:

It's a different model top. You can't get a OEM one anymore so I went with an aftermarket.

Not sure if I ever mentioned it but about 4 weeks ago we had a hail storm with ice chunks about an inch in diameter. I was in NJ for work but the pictures I saw had me worried about the Miata. Sure enough, I get home to find it all dented, though thankfully the top and windows survived unscathed.

An appraiser from my insurance company looked at it yesterday and it's not totalled, although he counted over 100 dents on the hood alone (they're small and I can only spot maybe 30 but he's the expert). Also, the plastic trim piece behind the wipers got hit and broke.

Anyways, the car's been parked in the street in Boston for the last four years so it's got lots of dents and scratches anyways. Honestly, I'm not too concerned about these small dents. What I am concered about is that the appraiser said that the paint didn't look right on some panels and that the car has probably been hit and repainted, which would explain why the clearcoat is peeling in a hideous manner in those spots. I might fix the clearcoat... or the rust spots... or the air conditioning... haven't really decided yet. I don't care much for cosmetics but at the same time the car will be garaged starting this winter so maybe I really should make it look nice again. Hmm...

If you get a hail payout, fix all the rust that has a chance of delving deeper.

Drove the Miata after being in the TL for about a week. Good g-d, it feels like an F1 car (with most cylinders deactivated)! Every input produces an immediate sharp response; all of the controls feel simple, mechanical, direct, and analog; there is precious little power on tap allowing you to really wind it out in every gear and have an absolute blast doing it; the small dimensions help make the driving experience unbelievably intimate. I simply cannot imagine life without my Miata  Sadly, it will be going into storage within two months.

I know your car is from before mandatory verification.... but every time this bugs me

The Miata is now a project car - I have a lot to do this year :|

-Front caliper, rotors, and pads.
-Figure out why there is always rain water underneath the battery tray in the trunk. Fix.
-Readjust the top.
-Fix (or, more likely, replace) the weather stripping above the side windows.
-Fix hood and headlight rattles.
-Figure out why the driver-side speaker sometimes cuts out. Fix.
-Hardwire dashcam finally.
-Figure out if it's possible to fix the super slow windows.
-Fix power door locks that need to be locked manually.
-Replace RSB links. Maybe even get a new RSB.
-Stiffen the chassis with an x-brace, strut tower brace, door jamb bushings, or some combination of those.
-Install my new horns finally.
-Detail the interior and scrub several years worth of brake dust off the wheels.
-Fix rust spots.
-Stop clearcoat from peeling until I save up for a full repaint. Alternatively, find another trunk lid and fender.

Yeah, this'll be fun without even a driveway <_<

Also my own items.

She's emerged from hibernation and all is well. I need to replace the weather stripping; clean the carpet (found a bit of mold); and chase down the electricity drain that I never got around to last year. Drove the Miata to work yesterday and realized that it makes a fantastic commuter! Fun at any speed, small and nimble, top goes down, just a joy to drive. This should be a good year :)
