I don't think this is worth starting a new thread for so I'll stick it here. Forgive me if my thoughts seem a tad unorganized.

I drove my friend's AP2 S2000 (the newer, 2.2L one that revs to 8k) over the weekend and it was interesting switching between that and my Miata. The s2k feels more serious, more mature, bigger, more intimidating, compared to the toy-like Miata that you can just throw around at will. All the controls are firmer and stiffer, even the pedals, which also have very little travel. The shifter is awesome but a touch more vague than the Miata's. Still, if the Miata's shifter is my favorite out of all that I've driven, the s2k is a close second. The steering is quick and the turn-in is really quick; steering feel is similar between the two cars. You also sit lower in the s2k and it feels a lot bigger than the tiny Miata. The Mazda has more of a roadster hang-your-arm-out feel, which I really enjoy, whereas you sit much lower and feel more cocooned in the Honda. The engine is just weird... felt slower than (or at least the same as) the Miata until 6k and then you have just 2k rpm to play with before redline, although I will admit that its a beast through that 2k.

I like the Miata more to be honest. Its much more stable, much more predictable, and its much easier to throw around and have fun with; its more like a toy. I also love the fact that the Miata is really fun even at legal speeds. Don't get me wrong, I love driving fast, but I am not lucky enough to have a daily commute that runs along twisty backroads so I've come to really appreciate that the Miata puts a smile on my face even while putting along in light traffic.

Eventually my friend and I made it out onto our favorite backroad at which point we both, naturally, decided to climb into our own cars. He couldn't keep up with the Miata. I will note, however, that he has stock tires (although they aren't exactly all-seasons) and I have brand new Azenis. He is also still getting used to the Honda - he got it about three weeks ago and spun it and crashed it within four days. He autocrossed it after it got fixed and says that he "tamed the wild beast" but I'm sure he was still being understandably cautious. I should once again point out that how much I like the Miata's balance, predictability, and adjustability.

The AP1 is better for the balls to the wall type of driving because of the higher redline :)

New oil (and filter), transmission fluid, differential fluid, coolant (the whole system flushed), brake fluid, clutch fluid :D Brake pads are next on the list of improvements. I might also clean the headlights and I definitely need to get a floor jack and some jack stands.

In other news, I have been without a working stereo for three months now and, to be honest, I don't really miss it all that much :dunno:
