Take on Faceoffs & Challenges

Constant and varied challenges keep the game feeling fresh and unique, offering a pick-up-and-play gaming experience to suit every player?s lifestyle. Every section of every track offers a new opportunity to Faceoff with another racer in the DRIVECLUB community to earn Fame for you and your Club. Customise your experience by creating your own challenges, and share them with the world.

The bad reviews the game is getting didn't stop me from getting it in launch day. It has nothing to do with Forza Horizon nor does it want to be one. Car handling is very arcade so don't expect any kind of simulation physics. It feels and plays like Project Gotham Racing but in the countryside. Point to point tacks are a blast!!!

Anyway enough BLAH BLAH BLAH.

I created a FinalGear club within the game. It's private so we can keep track of the people joining in.

If anyone in here wants to join just send me a request. My PSN ID is: Namcoman

Only played it for a little bit since I've gotten it, so far I'm enjoying it.

Is it a great game? Not in my opinion.

Is it a good enough game to hold me over as far as a driving game goes for awhile. The point system is a bit screwy though.. I mean, I get rear-ended and lose points, that's not fair. I should be able to rear-end them and not lose any then. I've also found you can just bump pass them in the corners and still gain points overall, which sort of defeats the purpose of negative points for contact...

I just got this today. I will join the club the next time I play.

Cool!

The game has it's faults, specially the reputation system. For example it's your fault when an AI car comes crashing into you from behind or next to you. But the arcade feel (very reminiscent of PGR) and the graphics make it worth it while we wait for Gran Turismo 7.

It will be fun to try out the free PS+ edition once they figure out how to make the servers work, but I doubt it will be more than that. From watching gameplay videos it looks pretty and sounds good, but the physics look terribly arcadey.

Project Cars just got delayed to March 2015 and I'm willing to put money on the fact that we will not see the next GT game before the later half of 2016. Quite a long time to wait for any decent driving games to come out :(

Hmmmm:

My plan was to wait for Plus version, however a white PS4 bundle meant if I got this game, I could play it today and flip it tomorrow for a profit. So, it'd be rude not to play it first.

(I've only done hatchback stuff)

Why is there no soundtrack? (Disabled by default? Why exactly?)
I drive like a prick, ricochet off walls and still beat the top star without trying.
All the cars feel the same.
The level where you drive against the sun, fuck me I couldn't see a thing. It was realistic I guess, but not fun.
Changing colours seems like a ballache.

Things I like:
I drive in auto, but you can override to manual on the fly. It's very rare for games to do this?

Wait for Plus version.

Message from Shuhei Yoshida - President of World Wide Studios

Hi everyone,

I wanted to provide you with the latest update on DRIVECLUB. Unfortunately, the road to launch has been a little rocky, and we are truly sorry that so many of you have not been able to enjoy everything that we had hoped DRIVECLUB would deliver.
We have been listening to your feedback and realize that patience understandably is running out. Evo is working around the clock to close the gap, and we have deployed additional engineering resources to help resolve the remaining issues as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the time frames required to roll out the fully connected experience will be longer than anticipated and we do not have an exact time frame for when they will be resolved. We will continue to update you on progress and you can find the latest info on the DRIVECLUB Facebook page.
We are also very conscious that we have disappointed so many of you who were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.
On behalf of WWS we are enormously grateful for your patience and we thank you for the continued support and encouragement. Again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. We are committed to giving you the best racing experience on PS4 ? it?s taking a little longer than we hoped.

Thanks,

Shu

Regarding the game's issues themselves:

The connectivity and server problems is not as simple as a case of not having enough servers - there is a fundamental flaw with the game design and how it interfaces with their network. This has nothing to do with PSN servers or Sony's larger infrastructure - it's limited to Evo's doors. There was also a public beta done a month or two prior to release that exhibited no signs of these problems.

The plus editions out. "Offline only and then a slow roll-out" <_<

Anyway, its a 12gb download and then a stealthy 14gb on-top of that. Because of PSN speeds it takes about 43 years. You can drive like it's Gran Turismo 3, use railings and AI as brakes, cars drift Ridge Racer style, the right D-Pad turns all the HUD off, which is great.

It looks nice and the cars sound great. If you have unlimited internet and can spare 3 years of your life downloading it's alright.

As a free game, it's pretty good. Wearing a headset, this is the best sounding car game, i've ever heard. I'm used to the hoover sounds of GT.

This screenshot shot shows a light version of what happens to the screen. The race time and weather is sped-up, so you can start dry and sunny and end wet and dark. You are blind most of the time.

I think I have to take back what I said months ago, it is a fun game and the cars do handle differently. I have never smiled playing a GT race, but in this it happens all the time. I was in a 430 Scud racing against 458's and F40's and it sounded great.

You can see the orange-peel in the LaFurry.

Big bumpy, I've stuck with the Plus version and I'm a small grind away until Platinum. However, game unlock and season pass is ?10.50 down from ?15 and so I bought it, neogaf said its the best season pass ever made.

They've added flake/flip and chrome paint. It shouldn't matter, but my 488 GTB looks amazing.

Do you play with G29 or just with dualshock ?

Bikes is on offer, I havent bought it yet.

Driveclub, you're fucking crazy...

The weather-porn is too fucking much, I can't see a thing.

Also they're adding 'hardcore' mode which turns off all driver aids.

You mean you can't turn them off already? Some of us drive without them anyway. :p

It makes the racing even. :p

...

They added the new Civic Type-R... Sweet Jeebus, it corners like no other FWD car and the 300BHP it makes every other hot hatch irrelevant.

It's a video game, so maybe the civic handles like an Oldsmobile Tornado in real life, in this game it's astonishing.
