Ever since the last Focus RS torque-steered its way off the production line nearly two years ago, there has been a gaping hot-hatch shaped hole in the Blue Oval's line-up. Sure, the Mondeo and Fiesta STs are great at what they do, but Ford really needs a car to epitomise what a hot hatch should be in the 21st Century.

Wearing lurid orange paint as its signature colour, the Focus ST certainly isn't a run-of-the-mill family hatch. Chunky 18-inch alloys, gaping air intakes, twin exhausts, a substantial real spoiler and countless flashes of aluminium leave you with no doubt about where the Focus ST is coming from.

I love the look of this car more than the Astra VRX. Can't wait for it to come to Oz as the XR5.

Why can't every car be availible in that colour?

That ST text in the steering wheel looks pretty cheap. And those oil preassure and turbo gauges are blocking drivers view. Well ok not much but I still dislike them.

I find it funny that to counter the Saab-powered Astra, Ford went with a Volvo engine. I wonder if they'll actually sell this one to us.

Looking Sexy... Like the new color... Remembering the Mustang Boss 302 IMSA....

Damn this porno. Can't stop looking.

The wheels remind me of the Murci?lago.
Awesome color!

Oh, by the way fellow Aussies, we're getting the bloody 5 door model, there are no current plans to get the sexy sexy sexy 3 door over here soon

this car has gotten the honour of best hot hatch by the 4car website - it's beaten the GTI and the VXR - this car is something special :)

Based on 4car articles, it's not much of a merit.

I sat today in a blue Focus ST 05. I have to say I like it much more now.
The seats are superb and I mean it, if you ever walk by the new ST, at least try the seats :)
Overall it looks very nice in flesh. Apart from the rims, they look weirdly bit plasticish. They are huge though, 18" in a Focus!

What a wicked car. Seems that any of the cars Ford can get right - they only sell them in Europe. When they brought the Focus to North America (something like 2 years after its European debut) the made a dog's breakfast out of it. Recall after bloody recall. Plus they hardly used anything from the European car. I had one for about 9 months.

I'm sure they rationalise it on price, no demand/market - but really - lots of manufacturer's sell hot expensive hatches. MINI Cooper S JWC is close to CDN $40k, VW GTI over $30K and on and on.

Sorry for the mini rant, but it creases me that they can get it so right and not everyone can savour the chance to own one. I'll get my arse in one the next time I'm in the UK.
