Some seven years after it first appeared, Lexus has replaced the IS200 with an all-new car.

This one is longer and wider than the car it replaces, but the really big news is that it offers the first-ever diesel engine in the Lexus range. (The petrol is a real gem, too, a 204bhp 2.5-litre V6 that spins sweetly to its high rev limit.)

I actually like this car, might need to go to the dealer and have a drive in it, in case they already have it.

Lexus is really finding its own design lately.

screw that, the 350 is the one for me.

Especially from the side, it reminds me very much of the current BMW 3 series - somehow I prefer the old model in terms of styling.

i think it looks better than the bmw. but considering how it is aimed at the 3 and isn't really ment for anything else, they are quite similar.

Dad went to the launch of the IS250 a few weeks ago. He won a Bose sound system as a door prize... Considering we are very very good friends with the dealer principal, Dad reckons it was rigged, can't complain though :p

Dad's not a huge fan of Lexus (Although I LOVE the GS. Mmmm, in black, tinted windows) but he said the 250 looked really nice and made mention of how this would be such a better buy than the 3-series. Getting the same, if not more kit, better looking car for significantly less money... and you don't have the wanker tag to worry about when you drive a Lexus.

I may have to make my way into a test drive... and maybe try the GS as well :D

Lexus IS250 - thats where the smart dollars go. Suckers will go for the Germans BMW, Merc Audi etc...I'm a sucker TBH.

I wouldnt go for the diesel though, can't stand em! The 2.5L is adequet enough and is surprisingly torque. The 3.5L...not if your in America or something.

The IS weighs up better next to the Germans than its big bro the GS does. Maybe we'll trade the IS200 in for the new one. Its Aussie premier is this weekend and we get a first look at it. Not sure if I got time though..

I really liked the old one, and was thinking of getting one. The only problem is that the IS200 is absolutely gutless, and here the IS300 comes in auto only. Pointless.

i passed at a lexus dealer yesterday, and he had about 5 IS-es in the showroom, but they were ALL facing backwards to the street

i guess they aren't that sure about the front either

The previous IS was the best in its range, NO doubt about it. Anyone who says otherwise haven't driven one ...

But this successor looks too much like the Honda Accord IMO ... doesn't look exlusive at all, not that the previous one did but at least it was OK looking.

I have driven the previous IS ALOT, and the IS300 Sportcross is sooooo much fun to drive.... My brother is considering an IS200 atm, but the manual is difficult to find ...

Can't you import it from Germany? There are a lot of cheap ones, there.

Look at uk.mobile.de

I think they have really high car taxes in Norway. You will need to pay at least a fraction of them when importing a car into Norway.

I am confused here as well why did people want that automatic? Wasnt it even a 4-speed auto?
