I just ordered a Dell e1505 for the 3rd time since Saturday.
the short story is that I would find better deals each time so i would call and cancel the previous order and create a new one.

sub total $2,070 - $750 = $1,320
plus tax and free shipping = $1,441.32 - 50 MIR = $1,391.32
ship date is April 11

I had a $1000 budget for a laptop and i decided to go this route. I will make a first payment of $1000 and pay off the rest with minimum payments

I am a gamer and I know this won't be able to do game well, but I knew I wasn't going to get a gaming laptop for $1000. So it doesn't bother me that it won't game well. It will do better then what I was expecting so I'm happy. This is a $2100 laptop I got for $1300

I am very happy

15.4 inch UltraSharp? Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife?

Intel? PRO 3945 and Dell 350 Bluetooth Internal Wireless Cards
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery
Genuine Windows? XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD
Remote Control for Windows XP Media Center Edition
Free Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 810

when i get it i will be glad to run every and all test requested.

any questions, just ask

LOL, i am gonna get the same computer too. But not for another month.

I haven't heard much good things about the x1400 but it sure beats the old x300 on the I6000D

Personally I would've ditched the WMC remote(come on, watch tv/movies on a 15" WS LCD? No thanks. But I do agree with your option of getting that back up battery.

I am seriously gonna hold out for one of these deals. My goal is $1000 with almost exact same spec. (bigger hdd maybe)

Looks good.

Good laptop with enough power to place some decent games.

May have to look at getting one myself.

the macbook pro would have been quicker :p

and a lot less stress, quick, go patch that OS security hole. not another trojan from tat porno popup!

Yes, but you will also have trouble finding things, particularly games, to play on your Mac.

Come on Mac nerds, give it up. Macs are just normal PC now-a-days. Intel chips, two button mouse, they just put it all in a pretty white case. :p

That being said I do love the look of their monitors and the Mini-macs.

x1400 for gaming? Can't you afford a Dell Inspiron 9400 on your budget? Surely that would be better for gaming with its Go 7800 Card?

Or you could install windows on it *gasp*...

The MacBook though would be way too far out of the given price range to be even considered.

Dell doesn't sell the e1705 with the go7800 anymore and if they did it would have been out of my budget. Hell this was out of my budget.

To make money for this computer I would buy computers off of craigslist for cheap and then sell them for what they are really worth on the exact same web site. I bought a dell 9100 for $395 and sold it 3 weeks later for $665 that comp had MCE and a remote. I fell in love with it I will never live without one again. This is coming from a person who has a wireless mouse and doesn't need a remote. That's how good it is.

I hope you the best luck for getting one under $1000 this was the best that I could do. I don't think that you can get much better deal. But it they just lower the price of everything then it is probably do able. Which is definitely passable with the Merom core chips coming out soon.

haha, I'm getting my wife the same model, just with less specs :)

Does the True Life screen make much of a difference?

I'm getting it for movies and stuff for that I heard it made a lot of difference. For other stuff it is just personal preference. Go to a dell kios in a mall and look at some

jeffy, the bette rhte screen, the greater resolution you can do. That is the ONLY REAL difference.

And yes, i NEED my 15" WS LCD to run at 1680x1050 even if i have to squint to read the texts.

I know remotes are cool. I personally had a wintv with that hauppauge remote, it was great to have it. I also have wireless keyboard/mouse too but having a smaller device to control movies is preferential.

But a remote on a 15" WS laptop screen ? i think that's a bit overkill.

No this TrueLife is supposed to make it look nicer I guess. I don't think it has anything to do with the resoultion, but the screen material itself?

Just ordered my wife's, she's gonna love it :)

Dimension 9100 or Inspiron 9100?

I've got an Inspiron at the moment and I'm considering a Dimension. Found one with a 7800GTX and Audigy2ZS for ?400 and I'm very tempted despite my love for laptops. Naturally I'd be forced to buy a nice Dell 24" monitor to go with that ;) Once you hit 1920x1200 - there's no going back :p
