AMSTERDAM - Dutch authorities are investigating plans by the producers of the "Big Brother" reality television show to include a pregnant contestant who will give birth on the show.
Talpa, the new television station launched earlier this month by the billionaire creator of Big Brother John de Mol, will broadcast a new series from Sunday in which a contestant is due to give birth six weeks into the show.
A spokeswoman for the social affairs and labor ministry confirmed a report in De Telegraaf daily on Saturday that inspectors were examining a request by Big Brother producers for the newborn baby to be allowed to appear on the program.
The Netherlands has strict rules governing young children acting on television, in films or on the stage.
The ruling Christian Democrats have condemned the idea of a birth on the live show, but the 27-year-old pregnant contestant identified only as Tanja defended the idea.
"I think that my child will be proud of it later," she told De Telegraaf.

The show's director Hummie van der Tonnekreek said Tanja would be well looked after in the Big Brother house, where a group of 12 strangers are locked in together and gradually voted out by the audience.
"She will get the maximum attention and care," Van der Tonnekreek said.
Versions of the show first aired in the Netherlands in 1999 have since been produced in dozens of countries worldwide.

It was only months ago Aussie Big Brother made world headlines for 'raunchy' reasons but now THIS! Who wants to see live birth anyways!

btw why is the font size large...i didnt touch nuthin :?

 some people will do anything to get on the TV. Sad people. Sad Sad Sad.

The danish big brother baby is almost as sad he was created in the house.

They are already in the house as far as I know, Hummie van der Tonnekreek, the bitch who is respsonsible for what Big Brother does is such an attentionwhore and does ANYTHING for the viewers and the money they bring in.

John de Mol has released a new broadcasting network Talpa and he has some pretty sick shows. There will be a spermdonorshow. A woman wants a child from a man but nothing more, and that's gonna be widely shown on tv.

If you wanna stand out from the croud you have to be extreme..

we have 3 big TV stations, during winter, they ALL have a bith-program. of a team of cameramen walking around in the maternity part of a hospital and filming the people and the births

and people realy watch it, or they woudn't air it :bangin:

Dignity, Valuesr. All sold.

Not just sold, sold to a middle man who goes and makes a shitload more out of it. He isn't even the one being degraded.

The sad thing is, there are people out there who are dumb enough to watch the mindless crap they serve up week after week. Not only some, shitloads, because the damn show rates.

The human race has not come forward, we've hit rock bottom.

(Don't bring out the porn argument, that's different. It doesn't air on live TV or TV for that matter unless it's a pay per view sort of job)

Crazy Dutch

1, participating in big brother and most reality shows, is already stupid
2, giving birth on a BS reality show is even more stupid, that women is out of her mind
3, the sick bastards that want to make money with such stupidity are not much smarter either

Television is the sole source which spoils the kids of today. Private television networks will do anything to get money...

Sick people

That's a pretty bold statement to make. You seem to forget that it's the parents job to decide what their childreen do/watch/play etc. They can't.

I choose to disagree with that. Jon Stewart made the exact same arguement against the idea that society is going downhill.

A couple of years ago, it was acceptable, no, it was the norm to call a black person a you know what. A couple of years ago, society said it was OK to have segregated public facilities and what not. It was also OK for the media to publish racist ideas, and for TV to broadcast 'blackface' actors. TV today would have probably got these people who enforced these ideas pretty riled up, going by your conclusion.

Today, we live with crappy TV. All the other negatives of the past, though, are almost gone.

You tell me which society you'd rather be living in.

4, IMHO, the people watching this crap are utterly moronic mindless idiots. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that this describes the majority of the viewing public.

FYI, I was so glad to be rid of John de Mol and crappy TV when I moved to the US, only to find out he infested US TV with the same garbage. :x

There's always somebody out there to protest anything.

Reality TV is an oxymoron.

Yeh but whose parents do anyways? Parents got work/personal commitments dont they and most kids have TV's in their rooms anyways and networks are aware of this. We cant help this, we are in changing times now...
