I just got a couple of DVDs from a friend of mine and I want to simply copy them. They are nor originals, so no copy protection and the size is ok at somewhat little more than 4 Gig.

On some of them Alcohol and Blindwrite say it has more than 1800 Gig and therefor the imaging process stops when the real data has been read... You can watch it though...

Do you guys thin I could just copy the .vob on the HD and then burn them as a DVD in Nero?

try on a DVD-RW and you'll know ;)

Don't have one... WTF, I'll try it...

Yeah, sometimes it'll work, and then on some DVD with no problems at all it just fucks up and won't do it... :x :x :x I'm so pissed... Half of the DVDs have CRC failures at the very end and CloneDVD doesn't let me igore them...

WTF, :?

Try using DVD Decryptor. I know that there is no encryption on the discs, but there is support for making a DVD ISO using this application.

I always use it, because it creates a checksum that ensures it can write back the ISO file properly again. I use Alchohol 120% for many other things, but NEVER use it to make copies of DVDs, never works for me either.

I am reading some of the other messages as well that are in here?. What kind of media are people using, some of the cheaper stuff suffers from poor edge sealing, which causes the media at the edges of the disc to begin oxidizing, which causes the CRC errors. With poor quality media, I wouldn't burn more than 4100 megs to it.

Hope this helps. :D

Yeah, you could be right about the poor DVD quality... Thought of that, too... The guy has a LG 4x Supermulti Burner, got good press, shouldn't be the problem here...

Plus: The one problem is the 1800GB bug and the other one is the crc failure... Seems one has nothing to do with another...

I'll give DVD Decryptor a try, thanks!

Yeah, DVD Decrypter should werk if they are .VOB/.IFO/.BUP files on the disc. :)

*crosses fingers* :p

It turned out, it was the medias fault...
But hey, so I finally have a new firmware...
