EPL 2012/13 Thread - The English Premier League

Just watched the highlights show on TV.

The Suarez biting incident was unbelieveable!

It will go on the list of "Ten Mad Things That Have Ever Happened In a Football Match":

Zidane headbutt during the World Cup Final
Cantona flying kick into the crowd (9 Month Ban)
The German player spitting (Voller?) in the World Cup
etc.

He will be banned by the FA.

EDIT Monday:

Monday 22nd April 2013

Man Utd 3-0 Aston Villa
Man Utd are Champions

Well done Sir Alex & Team!

During the weekend both Newcastle and Southampton completely lost their shit, tonight it seems that Sunderland did as well.

Newcastle were taken apart by a Suarez-less Liverpool, who played brilliantly without him.

Southampton lost their heads and ended with only 9 players at the end.

Arsenal played the new Champions really well, except for a silly error by Sagne followed by a stupid last ditched tackle causing a penalty which RVP equalised the score.

Promotions to the EPL Next Season

Congratulations to Cardiff and Hull who will be playing in the EPL next season.
Cardiff are another Welsh team joining Swansea, dunno how many decades it has been since they were in the top league together.

Playoffs
The final place for promotion will be decided from the following four teams:
Watford Brighton Crystal Palace Leicester

Best of luck to them all, my guess it could be Brighton.

(So no chance for them then! )

Predictor - Winners & Loosers

BBC Sport - EPL Predictor

Feed in your expected scores for each of the final games and see who gets the last two UCL spots and who gets relgated with QPR & Reading.

I got - Chelsea & Arsenal getting the UCL places, not Spurs.
.. and Norwich going down, not Wigan!

But, who knows!

Well I live in Brighton and one of my company directors has strong connections with the club.

Hopefully they get promoted so I can go to the Amex Stadium next season and watch United give them a proper footballing lesson! :wicked:

I'm hoping for Leicester, but that's mostly due to Kasper Schmeichel playing for the club :)

Well a pretty dull weekend of football, with result/performance of the w/e going to Wigan.

Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal all did what they needed to do with single goal wins in not great games, TBH.

The Fulham squad were already on the beach and made relegated Reading look quite good, getting a meaningless and useless win.

Wigan need a win against Swansea on Tuesday, then they are almost out of trouble.

Well I live in Brighton and one of my company directors has strong connections with the club.

Hopefully they get promoted so I can go to the Amex Stadium next season and watch United give them a proper footballing lesson! :wicked:

I like Gus Poyet as a manager and Brighton play the passing game like Swansea.

I'm hoping for Leicester, but that's mostly due to Kasper Schmeichel playing for the club :)

I think they were top ten, but I didn't follow the Championship that closely.
Schmeichel is getting old enough now to be an EPL GK, so maybe a transfer over the summer? (To Man U would be good.)

All the fun is for the last European place and the last relegation place in the EPL. I'll eat my breakfast if Wigan do it again!

Monday 6th May 2013

Sunderland 1-1 Stoke

* * *

That could be a very valuable point for Sunderland.
They have a better GD that the other two clubs (Norwich & Newcastle) on 38 points, who may very well all be joined by Wigan tommorow, if they win.

Squeeky-bum-time continues!
/Sir Alex

Tuesday 7th May 2013

Man City 1-0 West Brom
Wigan 2-3 Swansea

Wigan can still escape, by wining their last game of the season. I don't think Norwich will score any more points this season.

Wednesday 8th May 2013

Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham

* * *

Well, that's very good news for the Gunner's fans!

Saturday 11th May 2013

Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea

Hmm, a bit of a rough game at times, two sent off, one each side.
Chelsea now guarenteed UCL football next year.

Records:
Frank Lampard becomes Chelsea's highest ever scorer.
Lampard is also the fourth highest ever in the EPL and the highest midfielder.
Chelsea have now scored 143 goals this season in all competitions, their highest ever total.

Chelsea still have a European final this week, but the bad news is that Terry & Hazard got injured.

So, well done Chelsea.

Sunday 12th May 2013

Man Utd 2-1 Swansea
Sir Alex's last Home game & EPL Trophy presented

Everton 2-0 West Ham
David Moyes' last Home game before going to Man U

Fulham 1-3 Liverpool
Big Sam quote " .. some of my players played like they were already on their beach holidays."

Norwich 4-0 West Brom
Norwich secure EPL for next year, despite my prediction!

QPR 1-2 Newcastle
Newcastle secure EPL for next year.

Sunderland 1-1 Southampton
Sunderland probably safe, unless Wigan win their last two games. Some home Fans boo the team & leave the game early. Support your team, FFS!

Stoke 1-2 Tottenham
Spurs move above Arsenal in the table.

(More ^ later after highlights on MotD)

I'm hoping for Leicester, but that's mostly due to Kasper Schmeichel playing for the club :)

Sorry mate, Leicester were knocked out by Zola's Watford in the SF today.

And Leicester was soo close to make it. Missing a penalty in the last few minutes and then Watford counter-attacked the 3-1 goal and ending the game.

Now this day has been something to remember. It's been emotional to say the least.
But got to say thank you to the boss! The man is simply the best.

Tuesday 14th May 2013

Reading 0-2 Man City
Arsenal 4-1 Wigan

And, Wigan are relegated. Very strange week for the club, win the FA Cup and qualify for Europe, then be relegated.

First club that has won the FA cup and relegated at the same time.
