Holden is quitting production of the Monaro but it will still be sold in Europe in a slightly different style.

Just as Holden has announced it is ending production of the Aussie icon the Monaro has been reborn as a European luxury sportscar. Specialist German car builder Bitter will sell its new model in Europe next May at a $180,000 starting price.

Looks weird!

European Monaro

Yeah, definitely a bit strange looking - he displayed it a few years back, so it's taken quite a while to get it into production.

Oh gosh my life goes from bad to worse  First they tell me "No more Monaro", then they say "But still in UK" and now THIS...thing. Why does the front scream "Nissan" to me

The Monaro badge has been slaughtered in the past few months :( It will never be the same again

I thought the same thing. As soon as I saw it I thought it looks like a Ferrari 456 crossed with a Nissan 300ZX. Although the grill looks a little Alfa Romeo to me.

The Monaro is not the only car getting this kind of treatment. The BMW 6-Series and the SL both get butchered by Fisker, of course they aren't the only ones.

Blasphemy.

this such a waste of money its not even funny. well maybe a little funny
its based off a car that costs next to nothing and it looks like a 300ZX...

Geez, its Bitter.

They produced a simular car in the 70\80's iirc. Opel frame, GM engine. German Built.
Not that well known, but most older european car fans will know of Bitter.

Quite a special car in the day.

And I've seen that car b4, its was a concept in not this years, but last year's Frankfurt Motor show I believe.

FFS! How hard can it be! Buy an American GTO, buy Holden plastics from Vauxhall and get the right badges from Australia; a real european Monaro! Except it's got the 400hp LS2 engine :D

I was going to say the same thing

Looks handsome and refined, even though it's completely and utterly anthema to everything that is Monaro.

"Think of it as an Aussie from the outback. Maybe he can't quote Shakespeare. Maybe he's never heard of Terence Conran. But he can smash all the teeth clean out of your mouth with a single punch. That was the Monaro."

In other news, Dodge will resurrect the Viper name in 50 years as a 7-seater 3-row front-drive inline-4 "Sto-N-Go" minivan. But they'll paint some racing stripes on it, so it'll be ok.

and it'll have a 16.6L V20 to double the massiveness of the SRT10

I like it a lot - A LOT!! Looks like a sexy Italian number.

Top stuff
But its not :? Its supposed to be a muscle car thats why I hate it...oh and the fact that now the Monaro badge is truely fucked for life. See what happens when you share something with the world?? We shoulda just kept it quiet and local..not that it can be quiet with that engine.

I wouldnt pay $180,000 or whatever for a 300ZX/Fiat Coupe ;)
