Eurotrip - Paris [Mar 2014]

Great pictures, back luck with the weather though, when I was there mid-march there was no rain ... I had 4 days of sunshine ... and smog :(

Also, I don?t think I?ve ever seen the Louvre that empty :D

Question - is that on top of Bir Hakeim or where is it?

And the spiral-staircase?

Well , i am not the OP, but i think i can answer your first question : it looks to me that this is effectively the metro station Bir Hakeim , metro line 6, facing west towards metro station Passy.

Nice! I should probably go to Paris sometime, considering the Thalys train goes there in something like 3 hours from here... sometimes even for ridiculously low prices o_O

First Class (wich is often just a few Euro more, few as in 5) you get free food, drinks and much better (wider) seats ... but the on-board wifi sucks donkey dick (in every class).

You can also get quite cheap and nice places to stay via airbnb.com ...

Yes, correct. It's at the Metro station Bir Hakeim facing Passy station.

As for the the spiral-staircase, it was from Arc de Triomphe.

Edit: Forgot to mention the weather only sucked for 1 day while we were at the Eiffel Tower and boat ride. It was perfect the day before and after, but, just not that day. lol.

cheers, i'll have a look around and maybe go once i finish my thesis (so, july or something). quick glance at their website does make first class tickets far more expensive though (as in 112 vs. 29 ?), but maybe that's just because of the date i randomly picked. it's even less than 3 hours (2:36)

It?s simply "main season" that?s why I recon. When I went with the Thallys in March, one way we played 5? more for first class, the other one 10. It was both times around 50? per person, and second class came in at 45 something on the same train. From D?sseldorf that was. And that was a no-brainer ... for that sort of money I don?t mingle with the peasants in second class :D
But you are right, it can be a lot more expensive and we prob were pretty lucky. Alyways depends on how well booked the train is etc ... if you are flexible though, there are bargains to be had :)
