Phew!

The answer is this:

265474628_41fdee446e.jpg

The March-Judd 881, the first succesful car designed by Adrian Newey, driven by Ivan Capelli and Mauricio Gugelmin and, significantly, the only normally-aspirated car to lead a race (albeit briefly) in 1988.

mclarensmps wins this round, with Gman 2nd, gti138 3rd, and a tie for 4th. 4th, 5th and 6th are decided on a countback: Steve Levin asked two questions, one of which was discounted, and the other answered by a "Yes", so he gets 4th; Joc? asked one question answered with "Yes", which means 5th, and THE REAL STIG asked two questions answered by "No", which means 7th. Red_Bull has dropped out of the top 6 because of the wrong guess.

Round leaderboard:

mclarensmps 8
Gman333-x-Ferrari 5
gti138 3
Steve Levin 2
Joc? 2
THE REAL STIG 2
Red_Bull 2
stevanford 1
AnGuRuSO 1
chitownjeff 1
pfrocker 1
American TG Man 1

And overall leaderboard:

1. mclarensmps (9-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 9 pts
2. Gman333-x-Ferrari (6-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 6 pts
3. gti138 (4-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 4 pts
4. Steve Levin (3-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 3 pts
5. Joc? (2-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x)- 2 pts
6. THE REAL STIG (1-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 1 pt
7. Red_Bull (0-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 0 pts
8. stevanford (0-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 0 pts
8=. AnGuRuSO (0-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 0 pts
8=. chitownjeff (0-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 0 pts
8=. pfrocker (0-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 0 pts
8=. American TG Man (0-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x) - 0 pts

EDIT:

The man with the green flag is already behind the grid...

The red light...

And a very quick start to Round 2!!!

I figured the last one was going to be a Lleyton House of some sort... Well done..

Was the car a flat-bottomed?

Yeah, the chassis was a March but the team was Leyton House. I made my guess knowing I had a 50% chance of getting it right...:(

Perhaps. That bubble on the side of the cockpit represents the space needed for the manual gear change. When Newey designed the car, he made no consideration as to how the drivers would change gear (ergonomics arent his strong point). Eventually after a few skinned knuckles and much pleading, the drivers finally made him concede that it was actually necessary to create a little bit more room for them to comfortably change gear.

The more you know...:p

First set of answers, and the scores look very tight.

mclarensmps 2
AnGuRuSO 2
matt2000 2
gti138 2
Joc? 1
American TG Man 1
Gman333-x-Ferrari 1

And so far we know that this car:

was not V10-engined,
was turbocharged,
was flat-bottomed,
was sponsored by a cigarette maker,
was not run by a British team,
did not race in the '90s,

and that this team

raced with similar liveries to this car for over 5 years.

Another batch of answers are in, and the battle at the top couldn't be tighter.

Gman333-x-Ferrari 3
AnGuRuSO 3
matt2000 3
gti138 3
Joc? 3
mclarensmps 2
Devon 2
American TG Man 1

And so far we know that this car:

was not V10-engined,
was turbocharged,
was flat-bottomed,
was sponsored by a cigarette maker,
was not run by a British team,
did not race in the '90s,
won some races,
had a manual gearbox(obviously),
and was driven by drivers who were never World Champions.

and that this team

raced with similar liveries to this car for over 5 years,
was Italian,
and still exists in Formula 1.

So, as a matter of fact, this means that there are just a few more choices left. Ask a few more questions before hazarding a guess. Please.
