Come on...do your homework  ;)

The '61 Ferrari Shark-nose F1 car

For 1961 a 1.5 litre formula was introduced. Most of the British teams were caught out, but not Ferrari. They had done their homework well and the year saw the arrival of the Scuderia's first rear-engined car. Dubbed 'shark-nose' their little V6 was to emerge as the class of the field and would deliver up both drivers and constructors championships.

Sometimes (or quite often) less is more... 8)

It takes more skill to make something good with less "effort"... As in music - the best guitar solo doesn't need to be the one with the most tones in the shortest amount of time...

And, as you might conclude, I'm not a very big fan of "fast and furious-styled" cars... ;-)

yeh the front end is ghey i agree.. I felt it looked like a concept car that'll never see the sun.

It seems to me that the intakes overpower the rest of the front of the car. Also, they're not even 100% useful, they're made up with some paint to look bigger, yeesh

I think they mentioned on the prgram that the modena was the best selling ferarri in history, so I guess from a marketing view point the chances of this being a big hit is bigger when they make it look simular, but not too simular ;)

ithink the car looks nice, the diffuser makes it for me. The rest is nothing orriginal imo, from a design point of view.

I don't like neither the Modena nor the new F430. Those high noses are just not the looks of a historic Ferrari, like the 355 of the 328

The back may be lifted for an Enzo but the front is hideous

glad to know someone agrees the point I was making on another thread all along

Even though the 430 is in my perfect garage, I have to agree you guys (a bit).
The front end is girly, non-aggressive, and not vulgar. Kinda like pop music.

I actually like the arse of it.

The front end reminds me of JC driving the ariel atom where the g-forces and wind opend the sides of his mouth

EDIT: Not saying that it looks bad that way...i think it looks awesome and supersleek

I think the front looks fine. I actually like how it doesn't have any real straight edges. It just seems like a very clean sleek Ferrari. Besides, if you judge the car overall, it has generally improved. The sound of the car sounds excellent. The new system of TC is an excellent system which is usually an addon to most TC systems.

Even though he mentioned the paddle gearbox was ok, i've riden in one of the modena's paddle shifter, and basically it sucks balls driving around town, really unsmooth. The only two cool parts about it is when you downshift it double clutches for you, and when you achieve WOT smoothness doesn't matter. Audi's system still seems the best.

Ok. I respect your opinion. But you have to remember that the ability of a ferrari for being a "turn heads" car is in a 70% the looks of the car. If Ferrari putted the old-fashioned front like a Ferrari 348 or a 355 will be more head turner. On a simple look, you say that the F430 is a 360 Modena with the back of the Enzo. I imagine that some of the new electronics of the car are lifted from the 360 Challenge Stradale (TC and the gearbox) but still, you look the car in the front and you begin to doubt if the car is a F430 or a 360 Modena

You have to remember that the paddle gearbox is maded to be used in speed and high revs. Using it in a town is rubbish, and i prefer 100 times more a standard six-speed proper manual with the respective clutch

Those are my Two Cents

has anyone here ever drove a paddle shift car/ferrai? coz i mean i havent so, if u havent either, were all not in the position of saying paddle shift is better/worse

I don't understand this begrudging against the front... Put it this way: would you prefer a better looking car which doesn't handle well at all at high speeds and suffers serious fading after some laps or a slightly less better looking car that behaves perfectly whatever the situation? I'd choose the second option anyday, styling is just poser thing, I prefer efficiency.

IOW, I drive cars, not images. I don't give a fuck about image, and yes, that's what I'd drive a Multipla if I were in need of a mini MPV: this is just the best _car_ of the lot, the rest is litterature and appearances. Blah. Superficial. Meaningless.

Well said Ethan, but maybe this is why the F430 is so cool. It's not as good looking as other ferrari's so maybe people who buy them are actual drivers that drive them on the track.

If I go to a track day and see a F430 there, and a driver who can actually drive the car, how amazing would that be. This F430 just flying around the track as opposed to just seeing it on the street pedaling around with it's clunky gearbox.

And i forgot, the redline is 9000!!!!

Thank you

9000 RPM! LOL! That's kinda huge for a Ferrari

I really do understand what everyone means about this car in motion now - it really doesn't look that great, the front bumper just doesn't do anything for it at all. It took me a while to get used to the 360's bumper, but this one will take a lot longer I'm sure.

I wouldn't say this is obviosly beautiful car. Like older Ferraris are, from first sight.
I didn't like 360 when I first saw it either. But I got used to it, and I think it's pretty good looking (especially live). Same thing with Enzo, F430. I just don't think I will ever learn to like 612. That stupid smily front grill is just so non-Ferrari, so non-agressive.
But hey, it's sellers market. People are gonna buy everything they gonna offer, and will ask for more.
