This is Ford's facelifted Mondeo, which will make its public debut at the Moscow motor show in late August.

The new model gets external revisions including a new front grille featuring extra chrome, different front bumpers incorporating LED daytime running lights, and a revamped rear end with a fresh tail-light design.

Ford has yet to issue any images of the cabin, but it's said to include a new centre console, revised door handles and a central overhead console with ambient lighting.

New interior features include LED courtesy lights, a revamped sat-nav system and an optional 265W amplifier that connects to a 17-litre subwoofer.

The biggest mechanical change is the addition to the range of a new engine: a 237bhp version of Ford's 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged Ecoboost motor.

Ford claims the unit will offer greater performance than the 200bhp version of the engine - introduced earlier this year - while matching that motor's CO2 emissions of 179g/km.

The 237bhp four-pot could also have significance to performance Ford fans; it's hotly tipped to form part of the next-gen Focus RS, perhaps mated to an electric motor in the rear axle.

The revised Mondeo also gets a revised 2.2-litre turbodiesel motor, with 197bhp, and improved versions of the firm's 2.0-litre oil-burner with 113bhp, 138bhp and 161bhp.

The car also gets Ford's dual-clutch Powershift transmission for the first time, on all Ecoboost petrols as standard and as an option on the top two versions of the 2.0 diesel.

New options include lane departure warning and blind spot information systems, and what Ford calls an Active Grille Shutter; it regulates airflow through the radiator to reduce aerodynamic drag, and helps the engine to warm up more quickly in cold weather, improving fuel economy.

Ford has yet to confirm precise UK mechanical specifications, trim levels or pricing for the car. But it's due in dealers here in October.

Reminds me of a fish.

I do not like the alloys myself - rest of the car is OK - a bit Focus like, I'd have preferred a bit more Fiesta like.

I quite like the brown one. After all, isn't the mondeo supposed to be sensible transport for the masses.

The brownish grey one looks like a Catfish. All in all it looks like a tiny small makeover of the bumpers.

Also I wouldn't trust that 2.0l Ecoboost unit too much. I Allready heard of some problems with the Turbochargers of it on some Volvo's.

Like the angle as shown in the white one. As long as its quick, cheap and reliable it will be brilliant.

I want one :p

Looks like a fantastic simple car.

I like that - what I don't like is the fact that Ford is releasing an updated Mondeo here just now, I think it goes on sale in a couple of weeks. It looks the same as the current one, but adds a more powerful diesel engine and double-clutch gearbox. I hope we get the facelift as well, because when a similar situation occured with the Focus a few years ago, they didn't release the facelift for a couple of years.

I thought they got it right the first time, but at least they haven't ruined it. Looks more like an Aussie Ford, which is no bad thing.

Outside doesnt need changing, the inside does. Cheeeeeeeeeeeap plastic. Or rather cheap paint and stamps which rubs out easily.

Seems Ford in Detroit has quite alot of square stereos lying around.

Beats having an oval stereo.

When the new Mondeo came out in 2007 I personally loved the interior, it was massive improvement on the old one. In fact the only plastic in it I'd call 'cheap' was the glovebox lid.

<3.

Still the facelift looks a bit bland and like the American Fiesta... not a good thing.
