Faraday Future FF91 electric car

You can put a $5,000 deposit down for one, but they haven't announced a price

FF 91 has 10 cameras, 13 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and one LIDAR retractable scanner.

Self parking failed at the launch

Faster than Tesla S ?

That's the trend now?
Names vaguely related to electricity?

How better to attract that well off hipster to buy your car?

Seeing all the drama that has circled Faraday so far, I think it would be silly for anyone to drop $5k on this. That Lucid Motors Air seems to be just as far along in development, but doesn't have the baggage.

This. Depending on what sources to trust, the company is weeks away from imploding on itself. Lots of unpaid bills with empty promises of "the money is on its way from China, don't worry". I'm only waiting for this whole thing to go down, along with all the other stuff Jia Yueting (LeEco) has been investing in like a madman.

It's a looker, but everything else about it and the company wouldn't be out of place in an episode of Silicon Valley. Any bets as to how long into 2017 this lasts before collapsing?

is that the one where the plot finally makes sense? :p

Lackluster and dystopian design, why is it so hard to design an attractive electric car for christ sakes?

I can't wait for the OEMs to steam roll everyone and put these Chinese-backed half-baked companies out to pasture.

I very much do not believe that, no way. $5,000 is a lot more than the $1,000 Tesla wanted for their Model 3. For a car like this, that is supposed to cost ~$100,000 and that is nowhere near in as much of a presentable state as the Model 3 was when they opened reservations? That got nearly 1/6 of the number of reservations? Yeah, right...

Honestly? When a brandnew company dedicated to building electric cars decides to choose the name "Faraday Future", that's all I need to strongly suspect this is a highly unstable investment. Just trying to one-up Tesla on the name as your primary selling point does not inspire confidence...

Money quote:

"All patents are held by FF Caymans limited, a Cayman Islands company, so to quote an executive: as an investor, you are fucked"

If Faraday Future ever build any cars, they'll probably just buy batteries (or license battery designs) from BYD.

Ford announced plans to bring an affordable mass market EV to consumers with 300 miles of range.
