A friend forwarded this to me thought it was pretty funny

From

Fastest Cars of 2006; which is based on quickest acceleration times.

1. 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 - 0-60 in 2.5
2. 2006 Saleen S7 - 0-60 in 2.8
3. 2006 Ford GT - 0-60 in 3.3
4. 2007 Lamborghini Murci?lago LP640 - 0-60 in 3.4
5. 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo - 0-60 in 3.4
6. 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano - 0-60 in 3.7
7. 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - 0-60 in 3.7
8. 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren - 0-60 in 3.8
9. 2006 Dodge Viper SRT 10 Coupe - 0-60 in 3.8
10. 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider - 0-60 in 4.0

Is it just me or are there cars missing from their list...

Koenigsegg CCX; 0-62 in 3.2 sec
Pagani Zonda C12 F Roadster; 0-60 in 3.5
Ascari KZ1; 0-60 3.7
Ariel Atom 2; 0-60 2.9
Porsche Carrera GT; 0-62 3.9
TVR - Sagaris; 0-60 3.7
TVR - Tuscan; 0-60 3.8

And those are just the ones that I could think of off the top of my head, none of which are just one offs all are, execpt "maby" the atom 2, are proper production cars.

Someone needs to smack this Jesse A. Zirwes

The F430 spider is quicker than the hardtop? Isn't it a few tens of KGs heavier?

Carrera GT is not a 2006 model.

Production was halted in April or something. And CCX is not officially tested yet.

Damn the Saleen thing is fast

With 750hp and TT 7.0litre v8 it better be. Now if only TG would test the damn thing and show (perhaps) that America can build a supercar

Forbes Autos is the biggest load of shit ever. No wonder they'd leave out those cars.

And Jesus, that Saleen is fast! I knew it was incredibly quick, but 0-60 in 2.8? Now if they would only test the top speed already...

I'm thinking these are manufacturers claims. I've got a magazine article where they tried testing the Saleen, and it was impossbile for it to put all of its power to the ground, and suffers from a fair bit of turbo lag.

My guess would be that none of those are sold in the US, and that's why they weren't on the list.

There is a difference between 0-60mph and 0-100km/h (which is ~0-62)
Sounds like nothing, but in these margins it makes a difference. Also the Carrera GT is a lot faster than the numbers you claimed and the 911 turbos 0-100 time is 3.7secs. I can only guess how wrong the other numbers are... Ford GT doesn't seem too realistic either.

911 Turbo 3,4? Who the hell believes that? Porsche claims it does 3,7 with the automatic and 4 with the manual... First tests put the auto @3,9 though... Still holy moly fast...

//edit: And Un-Dee is obviously right... With som cars you might have to change into 3rd @60 mph and the 62 mph time, which is the 100 kmh mark maybe quite off...

Yeah.. I can see how some manufacturers can make 2nd just long enough to get nice 0-100 time. You can't judge by those numbers. They give direction, but you need to see a graph to know everything exactly.

Porsche claims 0-60 of 3.7 seconds on their 911 Turbo home page. Yet:
Official Porsche 911 Turbo page said:
Far from compromising performance, its lightning-quick gearshifts actually reduce sprint times compared to that of the standard six-speed gearbox. Tiptronic S shaves 0.3 seconds in the sprint from 0 to 60 mph, and 0.8 seconds from 0 to 120 mph.
So that would make it 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. And in a 5-speed slushbox, as well!

The new Turbo also has an 'overboost' mode which kicks the power up substantially for 10 seconds. Even the stock power levels combined with the AWD system (which is standard on the Turbo), and of course the rear-engine configuration (which lends itself to great acceleration numbers), and 3.4 is definitely achievable.

The Z06 should be up in the 3.4 to 3.5 as well though, I've seen several tests of it where those times were achieved :p

I'd much rather trust ze German page: http://www.porsche.com/germany/models/911/911-turbo/featuresandspecs/

3.7 and 3.9!
