lmao, just kidding, pictures will have to do. Will upload some once I get some time.
Thought I'd post this here as it's kinda related to the package but I got an unpleasant surprise in the mail from FedEx Canada. Wanting me to pay 14 bucks on the FG package for some kinda bs "Remittance Advice". :/ Bunch of scammers...
Well, she's out of the hospital now, so things are looking up. And it definitely takes a load off my back.Damn. Sorry to that about your mom Hope she feels better.
Crap, it was assessed Duty fees??!! Damnit, when will NAFTA work for us ordinary people??!!
If customs duty is going to be a problem from here on, then we need to settle on ways to send it that may minimize or exclude duties. What I worked out is that anything arriving in Canada that's less that 20 CAD is duty-free. As well, packages containing items worth less that 60 CAD and clearly marked on the package as "GIFT", containing a list of items and their fair market value should go through customs without incurring duties.
Now, it looks like THGL is next on the list, so I'm sending the package to Kentucky, where it may incur duty fees again. The rules for sending gifts to the US is that fair market value of the contents of the package must be less than 100 USD and must be clearly marked on the box as an unsolicited gift and posted with a list of contents and their fair market value. The post cards are written on, so no fair market value at all, so that leaves the cars.
Does anybody have the purchase receipts listing how much the viper and the alfa cost? Just out of curiosity. If you have a copy that I can include with the package, that would be even better. The copy just needs to show the listing of the product and a monetary value for it, so you can black out personal or financial info. The customs people can disagree and put their own value, but if we can prove them wrong, they'll have no choice but to let it through. If they cost more, I can make a case for a lesser value on the viper, since its mirrors fell off, thus it is damaged (less fair market value), don't know about the alfa. Anyone able to contribute here? I want to get this sorted out before I send it. No sense in governments getting taxes they shouldn't out of this.

I'm glad my horrible black Gorilla tape has remained on the package all this time.
Though the MG shifter I threw in seems to have disappeared.
Well, the optional extra stuff was supposed to only travel to the next recipient, so not a surprise really.
Next on the list is skidd in san fran, and then BerserkerCatSplat in Calgary. So in the interest of avoiding any unnecessary duty fees, I'll be sending it to BCS first and asking him to send it onto skidd to complete the circle. Just sent BCS a private message to arrange to send it on. Pics of me and the package to come, tomorrow if I have time.
