First Drive: 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

In the past I've never been a big 'vette fan, but oooo mama, gimme gimme gimme :drool:

I have to know what it sounds like...
 
I only started likeing the Vette since the C6. Whats the major difference between the C6 and the Z06? It looks more or less the same..

It would be easy to assume that all american cars are made from steel girders that come in "big" and "bigger", with one for the backbone, one for the front steering(aka billy cart style:lol:) and one at the back they call a "live rear axle" :?

that seems like a genuinely good step in the right direction... maybe one day they'll discover how to make interiors out of something other than used beer cartons and dead homeless people :lol:

Your being a bit slack. They have made plenty of good sports cars in the past. Now luxury cars is something they need to work on seriously.

Z06 is what they call a "trim line". It's a higher end model than a standard Corvette. C# denotes the generation. C1 (1953-1962, the original 'Vette), C2 (1963-1967, the first stingrays), C3 (1968-1982, what many people feel is the best 'Vette, the second stingrays), C4 (1984-1996), C5 (1997-2004), and finnally the C6 (2005).
 
The speed of the new Z06 is great news for us!
The European companies will not like the fact that Americans have made a fast car! This means that we'll see even faster cars coming out of Europe do try to embarass Chevrolet.

Can't wait to see the new M-badged BMWs, AMG-badged Mercs, the new Lotuses, etc.
 
I don't know why, but the exposed chassis makes me all... how do you say.... excited! I thought the C6 was small enough already. The exposed chassis just makes it even smaller than it looks!
 
I <3 the C6 so much, and I love the ZO6 even more. It just such an awesome, fast sports car. It is really small compared to the C5, at the Chevy dealer they have a C5 parked next to a C6 and you can really see the size and shape changes between the generations. I can't wait till I can see the new ZO6, its going to be nice.
 
i highly doubt the z06 is carbon fibre but holy shit... you cannot beat the z06 in terms of performance for price. sand those looks
 
I don't think the body is made out of carbon fibre, it would jack up the price a lot. If you read the article under the movie, you would see that they converted the frame from steel to aluminum and magnesium which takes a lot of weight out.
 
The Z06 comes with carbon fiber fenders, hood, bumper, and floorboard, which has a balsa wood core.

compare it to a Typhon, T440R or the T400 and then we'll see.

that is bullshit, really it is. No one was worried AT ALL when the Ford GT came out. the ferrari-killer didnt even phase ferrari at all. The Europeans have TVR's and Nobles that are the same price and are faster and better handling. no one has to embarass Chevy, they do it them selves most of the time. and M's, AMG's and Lotuses dont even compete with the 'Vette directly. :lol:

and you've forgotten about the Viper which has been out forever. there is not A SINGLE european company out there that gives a flying fuck. and the viper is an american car that is as fast as the new ZO6.
 
The Z06 also, of course, has a bigger engine and more power than the base 400HP Vette. Z06 makes 505HP with the new SAE? ratings. :)
