POWERR!!!
Do you address people by their first or last name?

I'm thinking mostly of people that are ten or more years older than you, that you haven't met in a social situation.

Huh, what's the point of this? :bangin:

I'm trying to be polite against people older than me. If I know them, it's just the first name.

It just popped into my head, so I though "why not ask?" :p
So you pulled a Jason !

I just depends... When I'm drunk its ONLY first name, otherwise -> Last name for sure... The age is also important...
Plus: To some people you can just connect better than to others...

Sorry, pretty useless, you just can't generalize that one...

In asia names are different. Chinese names usually have Christian/english names prefixed like Kevin Wong Xiao Ling. His name is Kevin, but it is also Wong Xiao Ling. Wong is his surname. So people will call him either Xiao Ling or Kevin.

Malay names are long. For instance my name is Muhammad Zyran bin DDDDDDDD DDDDDDD where DDDDDDDD DDDDDDD is my dad's name. People call me zyran. Muhammad isnt really the name more like a generic prefix because muhammad is Islam's prophet.

well... I call people I'm not very familiar with or older than me or more superior(at work) by Mr. XXX but collegues and friends is just by their first name

Thanks for explaining that. Was always wondering :). Thanks.

I love the Asian names. I used to go to a school that was 40% Asian. Here are my favorites (sp. might be wrong):

Bong Leong
Ho Yin Tang (Everyone, including teachers, called him ho  )
Koske Miamoto
Wingman Chui

Their english names were always "Jackie".

utterly useless

My mom knew someone and I'm not joking with the name Harry Kok. Go figure.

Can't remember the last time I used Mr/Ms/Mrs.
