Food! [The thread that started this section]

Ugh, I'm not much of cook and I despise electric cookers. What in the hell is the point? No heat control or nothin' on electric stoves.

On antother note. I do miss having a gas cooker. Electric stoves just aren't the same. I gave up on asian food mostly due to not being able to roast for a very short time.

Had Dim Sum the other day. One of my most favorite things to eat when we go out. I didn't take this picture (just a random one I found on the web), but it's very similar to what we had.

I love dim sum! Especially the chilli squid and the steam bbq pork buns!

Some food from around the world

Kebabs in Arnhem (I love Euro kebabs so much more than Aussie ones)

From a brewery in Potsdam (bacon, little sausage florettes, smoked pork, roast pork, croquettes, and some vegies with cream sauce)

From the Sphinx restaurant in Poland (Schnitzel with bacon laid in it)

Lunch at work (rolls with spinach, tomato, little pickles, fried bacon bits with chilli and spring onions, meatballs with bolognese sauce, bbq sauce and mayo)

You were in the Netherlands but didn't bother to tell any of us Dutchie forumz ppl? I thought you loved us

:p ;)

(and our kebabs ARE good, can't really comment on the ozzie ones, never been upside down)

Upside down...

Damn you Magnet, how do you post that many pictures in a row? My mouth is literally salivating right now... someone get me a cup.

Although you dutchies do like your mayo on everything!

Yes, I was in Arnhem/Oosterbeek/Rheden for 1 week for a compressor training course. There wasn't much time to visit fellow forumers unfortunately :p

We rented a Golf, and I don't know why, but we found this sign hilarious. It's a warning for speed humps, but it looks like the car is doing a Dukes of Hazzard leap over it.

My first try on Sushi:

Not great, but for a first timer without a proper rice cooker, its ok-ish...

sushi is totally one of those things where you start out making okish pieces but as you do it more and more they get better and better.

I'm actually quite impressed, e-brother. My friends here and I tried to make some one day and we couldn't get the rice to work with the roll bamboo-pad thingy.

Now I want sushi.

Looks good! I usually have trouble with the rice...
Now I also want sushi.

Did you put vinegar in the rice?

Sushis a little complicated but once you hit that sweet spot, ure good for life. We make sushi to celebrate the last F1 GP every year

I don't like eating stuff that lives in the water...except maybe tuna. I tried sushi once and I nearly gagged :barf:

I've only tried sushi once, I was about 10 and HATED it.
I can think of at least 10 foods that I hated when I was a kid that I like now, maybe I'll give it another try.

Is there any specific kind/type of sushi I should try first? I don't know anything about it.

Unagi (bbq eel) it's cooked and reasonably familiar to other tastes so it shouldn't be to rough. After that i would stick with some of the cooked rolls and once you are feeling more adventurous go for some salmon or yellow tail. The one thing i will say is that the difference between crappy sushi and quality sushi is the difference between hating and loving sushi.

Exactly....I know lots of people who hated sushi until they tried quality sushi and found out they liked it.

who here has seen or experienced a Sushi boat or a Sushi Bridge?!? I don't eat sushi but those things make me want to try, damn their cool!
