I got a new box of cereal to try. I kind of like it. To bad it is a limited time thing.

I'm a sucker for novelty breakfast cereals like that. That one's waiting for me in my cupboard. I don't eat cereal frequently, so I'm militant about consuming them in order of their expiration dates.

Oh, don't get me wrong, most are shit. 😅 like the Cap'n Crunch Sprinkled Donut Crunch and Cotton Candy Crunch weren't great, but it was still better then Peeps cereal.

But some that are worth it:
Cinna-Graham Toast Crunch

Strawberry Banana Cheerios, suprisingly

Hershey Kisses cereal is OK, but I prefer Cocoa Puffs

Hostess Donettes (Powdered)

Pop Tarts strawberry (better than the fruit-filled Shredded Mini Wheats)

Post Honey Maid S'mores is possibly my favorite currently-availble "sugary" cereal. Technically not "new" and doesn't seem to be a limited-time offer. It's the closest cereal to the old General Mills S'Mores cereal from the 80s or 90s that i loved as a kid...but that one was still better because the graham pieces were dusted with chocolate. This Post cereal is also a bit sweeter, i think, that that old one. Still love it, though. The Malt-o-Meal "Popeye" s'mores cereal is nearly as good, as this one, too. The Kellogg's "Smorz" can kiss my ass.

Reese's Big Puffs are actually a slightly lighter crispness/less crunchy than the original. Tastes the same, just a different "lighter" texture.

Reese's Puffs Cluster Crunch more similar to the big puffs than the regular Puffs

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros are fine, just not as good as the OG CTC.

Cap'n Crunch Caramel Chocolate Crunch...but it's really "heavy". Very sweet, and the caramel definitely makes it feel more like a dessert than most of these cereals already do.

Others that aren't very good:
Twinkies

Jolly Rancher

Drumstick cereal (original... the mint version is even worse...but either way, it's missing the peanuts you'd find on a "real" drumstick. Maybe it needs a little but of Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch of Reese's Puffs mixed in)
1644550089993.png

Oreo Os. Weird aftertaste...flavor reminds me of gluten-free Oreos. Not the same as the old-school oreo cereal, I don't think.

I'd buy Cap'n Crunch Oops! All Berries more, but there is so much color,, it makes your #2s a super unfortunate color.

I had the Twinkies cereal. To say it was terrible would be an understatement.

In addition to the Wendy's cereal in the cabinet, i've also got this one, but haven't tried it yet:

I kinda liked this one...it reminded me of "mexican hot chocolate", but I kinda wished it were, like...slightly spicy in a weird way. Like a sharper cinnamon. It was pretty good, but the texture was just kinda...meh.

Hilariously it was from the Ben's Original (f.k.a. "Uncle Ben's") website. I had a pound of ground pork to use up, and a bottle of hoisin that's been hanging out in my friedge for like a year, and thought honey would go well with it, so it was literally the first recipe that came up with the Google search for "ground pork hoisin honey". Really easy to make.

I drifted from the as-written recipe and made my own rice, though. Ha!

Root veg gratin is a tasty side dish.

The unusual thing in this recipe is that the veg is stacked vertically.

Last time I made it, I used sour cream and a mix of carrot, parsnip, potato, sweet potato and butternut squash. Forgot the garlic and herbs.

Make sure to brown the top.

Took about and 90 mins, depends on your oven.

I was gonna say that’d work very well even without any cheese, but only as a side then (because the website lists it as main). Goes well with a lot of „lighter“ stuff, very versatile.

I dug out one of the weekend breakfast staples of ours ever since I discovered the simplicity of it through chef John (from foooooodwishes dot com): the Dutch Baby. If you’ve never tried it, definitely give it a shot. For the insanely small amount of work it takes, the results still at least look spectacular 🤣

You mentioned Chef John, but I don't see any cayenne pepper on it anywhere. But you do you. After all, you are the Harlan Pepper of your cayenne pepper...
