He rented a 2015 500 and drove it for a few days, not just around the block. See the photographic evidence of the fail for yourself.

That's all fine but the Nissan Versa Note is still the worst car being made and sold in the US in 2017.

Even Crap and Driver gives it 1.5 stars: http://www.caranddriver.com/nissan/versa-note

The Versa Note isn't pretending to be something it isn't, unlike the 500. That's the point rick was making.

Considering that rick was the second biggest Fiat 500 fanboy on the forum after you, the fact that actually having to drive and live with the 500 turned him off should tell you everything you need to know about the car.

At least the Versa is likely to remain fluid tight past 19k, unlike rick's Fiat 500 that pissed coolant on the parking lot after a couple days. And I don't recall the Versa ever being recalled for the doors falling off, unlike the Fiat.

Edit: Citations for the 19K leaks from rick, with photos:

Yeah the Versa will be fluid tight while it's quietly disintegrating the rubber bands in its CVT so that it can be replaced in 40k miles.

Yeah, about the above?

https://www.nissanusa.com/blog/xtronic-cvt-continuously-variable-transmission

Well, traditional automatic transmissions have five, six or even seven gears, while Nissan's XTRONIC CVT doesn?t even have traditional fixed gear ratios. Instead, it uses a steel belt or chain and a pulley system to move up and down the gear ratio in continuously smooth motion, providing seamless shifting, stronger acceleration and increased fuel economy.
Nice try, but no.

Could "rubber bands" been a metaphor for how they feel to drive, like one might use "hamster in a wheel" to mean a low-powered engine?

Unlikely - many older CVTs actually did use rubber bands (really belts). The CVTs used in most motor scooters still do.

lol I'm aware that they're steel belts, they just behave more like rubber bands.

The DCT horror stories that people find when researching Fiesta definitely don't help it's case. It's a hunch but there's got to be a reason why Ford's configurator seem to be pushing the Focus SE Ecoboost hard over the NA model - the Ecoboost is mated to a conventional autobox.

Honestly, between a Versa and a 500...i'd honestly rather have the Versa - it's not trying to pretend it's anything more than a econobox. The 500 is ok, but the marketing boffins spin it as a discount Mini. In terms of fit & finish...it's nowhere close and honestly the Versa was better screwed together than my example IMO, and better isolated from wind and road noise on the highway.

Both aren't brilliant choices for long distance travel, but if I was at gunpoint...
As a former Focus DCT owner I would of KILLED for the regular 6spd auto found in the Escape with the same power plant. But, glad I traded that POS since half of my dozen service visits weren't transmission related. LOL I gave up trying to get Ford to fix that shit.

Yeah, it wasn't really a DCT. It was a single clutch robomanual; I don't think anyone's actually made a good one of those.

I hope everyone at Ford responsible for that idea getting the okay as a 'DCT' gets beaten severely with nail-studded clubs. That was a really retarded idea.

I knew the DCT was an automated manual but only after I bought it. Haha!

I got a notice that I'm a part of the class action lawsuit for the DCT issue LOL I won't qualify for any money but good riddance to that car.

Are you sure? The latest Lehto's Law came out and he did a quick overview of the DCT class action. You may be able to get some money even if you don't own the car anymore. It's about 20 min but worth a listen/watch:

I only sent the car in for 2 calibrations and not the 3 needed for the requirements on the suit. I literally GAVE UP trying to get that car fixed hence why after a dozen service visits I decided to eat the cost and trade it in for my first Charger.

I doubt I'll get anything but I am a part of it anyway so we'll see! LOL I should get compensation considering that car was the cause of my high car payments being so upside down because it wasn't ever reliable enough to drive 100% of the time. What a shame, the seats were comfy and the radio was decent enough sounding. Sync on the other hand was complete trash. Needed my 3rd Sync module replaced before I traded as well. Feel bad for whomever received that car...

Just wait until gas prices skyrocket, then the Fiesta will be back in short order.

My wife has a 2013 Focus hatchback, and we got the class action notice as well. Sadly, our is a manual car and it has been an awesome little car. I love that thing.

I have rented a DCT Focus in Hawaii.. I returned it after only a day.
