France tells Czechs to 'know their place' in the EU

I do not live in Ireland or Czechoslovakia (actually the Czech Republic, but lets not split hairs) and as far as I am concerned they can starve, or be the richest country in Europe but not at my expense, what the hell is in it for me?

Nothing ever, most Europeans hate us for being too American. ...

You know I have asked the question what is in the EU for us as in the UK several times in this forum knowing we have lots of very fine Euro members who will tell me; no one can think of one. ...

I will change my vote next time (Last time was 1974 I seem to recall, when btw I voted no). God help the next Government who put any form of EU vote to the British people expect a loss by about 70%.

PS I hate the EU as much as Spectre hates the UAW. Perhaps more.

Oh the old EU was fine... but for god's sake get the fuck rid of romania, bulgaria, and HEAVEN FORBID TURKEY IS EVER ALLOWED TO JOIN!

Let me see Austria, how much to you pay in and who is stealing your fish?

So no it was not good for us; it was sh1t, now it is going to be even more sh1t.

Right the Austrian vote is in can't figure out why the Brits are in, next.

Nah, I live in Germany, just in Austria on vacation right now. And Germany is who is paying out of their arse.

well, nobody asked me.... If I were asked I wouldn't even let east germans into the EU/Germany.

I was OK with the Ossies it was a temporary thing and you lot paid in so were allowed in my book at least to take out which was understood but everything else!

Have you seen how much Greece gets, bugger me!!!! And they really hate Brits because of 1946.

First of all, I haven't really followed this particular incident, but Klaus is an attention whore, who's willing to do/say anything that's controversial enough to make the headlines. He hates socialists and greenies like I do, so I have to sort of like him for that, but his arguments are getting more and more ridiculous. Plus, I hate him for his behaviour on the domestic political scene.
The EU has achieved many great things, particularly the free movement of goods, people and capital. But how much socialist crap is there today per every proposal to expand the economic liberties? I've recently read that there's a proposal to impose an EU-wide tax on smartphones with a GPS module or TV reception. WTF? Will there be an EU tax on Swiss Army knives based on how many saws, screwdrivers and pairs of scissors they have? I know (hope) that this proposal has no chance of being passed but still, who wants to give more power to an institution run by people with f*cked up thinking like that? I sure don't.

Lets put a tax on dogs again! :D

Free goods and services - unless they are British - who remembers the French and the 'burnt alive' Lambs and their lorries? I wonder how many French farmers were arrested and sent to prison for that little fiasco - oh I know - none. ...

Well, since the practical functioning of the free movement of goods and services has already been questioned, I remember reading an article where the Czech exporters complained how many administative constraints do the German authorities put in their way when they want to export to Germany, how it takes about two years and loads of money to get all the paperwork done and that there are no similar certification procedures and other restrictions over here.
So yeah, as with most EU policies, I am under the impression that the free movement of goods and services only applies to such an extent that's favourable for Germany and France.

which is only fair, because the movement of moneys is unfavourable to those nations.

Yeah that is the typical German attitude. While the Brits complain that they have to pay the money at all, the Germans complain that they pay the money and yet they still haven't bought the other countries' obedience.
I say stop the movement of money NOW. And cut all the other socialist crap as well. We'll be net contributorts from the next budgetary period (2014-) onwards anyway, so we could have just as well taken loans.

Then they take them to court. No point bitching about it and not doing anything about it. There are loads of cases on this exact issue, 95% of which fall in favour of the person trying to do the trading.

I think this thread turned a bit negative :D

Lets be reasonable, there have been good things that have come out of the European Union. There are things that would be impossible without it, most importantly the united effort in reducing emissions. Regardless of if you believe in global warming or not, there is no argument for coal power except that it is cheap. We need the EU to coerce certain countries into taking responsibility for their emissions and shift the source of energy from coal to nuclear power and other efficient and clean technologies.

We need to do this to get China in on the track.

Most of the problem I have is that when they spew out their useless laws the French and Spanish and Germans etc just ignore them and get on with whatever they want to do. But the cretins in power here implement every little thing - often with an extra bit on top...
