Hi, I have a Sony vaio desktop and ive never had problems with it for 2 years.. My computer starts to freeze when playing videos for no god damn reason. The mouse stops and u cannot do anything with it WHATSOEVER

plz help

um where exactly do i go to check/control my cpu temperature kip?

edit: found it fianlly, is 46 degrees ok for the CPU?

that u for the input....i tried the two players and fortunately it hasn't frozen again. Could it be that my ram(512) is low and the computer cant take it anymore?

Not having enough RAM will slow down your computer, but it won't make it crash. Usually this sort of thing happens when your PSU isn't powerful enough or something is wrong with the motherboard, dodgy software can be the culprit too.

Check the load temperature too, during gameplay or anything that generally puts a big stress on the computer.

your ram is surely enough for playing videos

most video problems are caused by having to much videocodecs on your pc
they tend to mess each other up, that's why i recommended vlc because it uses it's own decoder

you could ...
- scan for virus & spyware
- get rid of old programs
- do a general clean up
- unistall video-programs & reinstall them
- do windows updates
- update your drivers

Its really rare that it would lock up because of codecs though.

Most laptops I've had to fix was because of the stupid little fans weren't working anymore, resulting in huge temps.

First things first, do an Ad Aware spyware search cos spyware can cause your computer to do unexpected things.

Secondly, download Advanced System Optimizer (30-day trial) and do the System and Disk Cleaner and the Registry Cleaner. Then do its Registry Degfrag which works better than the standard Windows one.

Finally, for Gods sake make sure you dont have too many programs on startup. I have none btw and thats what keeps my 1.99GHz system running smooth. Anyway check this in the 'run' command of the start menu and type in "msconfig.exe" and visit the "Startup" tab to get rid of unessesary programs running on startup.

Hope this can help :)
