I just bought a 2000 Nissan Altima, it does not have a Front Strut Tower Brace. I am wondering, if I get this THIS, will I notice anything, and is it worth it?

Compared to other upgrades for my car, this is quite cheap, I just wanna know if its worth it. Thanks.

unless you drive the altima like you would that 911 in your avatar/sig, you wont feel a huge difference.

Gotcha, thanks for the quick reply. The car is going to be kept away for awhile, I gotta get some insurance things sorted out before I drive it. So I want to find some relatively cheap things to do to the car.

For my Alero it would make a difference due to the body roll and flexing going on. Wonderful GM product. For American products stiffening up the chassis usually gives you quite an improvement.

Hmm, well I haven't driven the Altima that much yet, so I don't know how much body roll I will be getting. I know exactly where to go to find out (I know of a really sweet "shortcut" with some nice twisties). I suppose once I get the car registered and get some plates, I head over there and see what happens.

I want to do some other minor upgrades, maybe a ram air intake or cold air intake, but most likely not as they usually only give you more intake noise, and nothing else.

I also plan on getting the SE taillights, becuase they are so much cooler than the ones I have now.

I suppose I should be most happy that the car is in pristine condition and everything is in good working order. Its also quite peppy with its little V4 surprisingly.

I'm just looking for little things to do while I accumulate money for insurance.

Best bet would be to drive it first and then try to stiffen up if you think it isn't stiff enough. I can get a front and rear strut tower brace but just don't have the money right now.

Yeah, I gotta get acquainted with the car first to see what I want to do.

Right now I just gotta give it a really good vacuum, clean it, wax it, and get new hubcaps. The ones now are broken and cracked.

Another problem I have is the spare tire is not attached to the car. The mounting mechanism (basically a large screw) is not there. So I have to figure out a way to tie the spare tire down so it don't bounce around. I really have no idea how I'm going to do it, maybe some thick string, but I doubt it would last long, gotta figure something out.

Try a junk yard and see if they may have the spare tire mechanism.

Courtesyparts.com is awesome! I'm glad you've found it already.

The strut tower brace can improve steering response and reduce roll. For a front wheel drive car, I'd just get the front one.

Heh, thanks. When I got home, I spent about 2 hours scouring the net for places for buy altima parts. Somebody posted a link to the site on a now-defunct forum, and I'm really glad I found it.

I would only get it for the front, no use for the back one.

Take it from a guy who sells Nissan parts; the front Strut bar is a good choice, and then replace the suspension bushings for the rear parallel and radius rods, and the bushings for the front and rear sway bar links. Also for the sway bar link bushings try to find a harder durometer...I think, NISMO North America has these. I will look at the catalog tomorrow. The rear susp. bushings in the U131U's and L30's go bad and then take the rods with them.

I don't know about replacing the bushing on the rear part of the car, don't really got the tool right now. I just want to get the sway bar first. But what are these harder sway bar link bushings? If they are cheap and easy to install I'll opt for them too.

Thanks for the help. :)

I looked and couldnt find any harder bushings offered through NISMO. Maybe an aftermarket company maes them.

:(

Hmm, what should I look for? Harder durometer bushings?

Just thought I'd mention: After putting on a front strut brace on my Accord, many of the swaybar endlink bushings wore out completely. If you're really looking to feel an improvement with a strut brace, the bushings arguably go hand-in-hand.

i didn t notice shit with a strut bar on my car. i knew it wouldnt do shit, i just bought it for under the hood bling. if its cheap as hell go for it bc it kinda looks cool but if its over like 50 bucks, its not worth it.

btw i also have a nissan

if your altima has a ka24de check out www.ka-t.org awesome site with some fast fwd ka's.

Hmm thanks for that, I'll get the strut tower and keep an eye on the bushings.

Yeah, I know its not going to do much, and I'm probably not going to feel anything, but why not. Its cheap and it'll look cool.
