Fucking FTC, you can tell I've been reading that book about those natural cures 'cause I'm so pissed off the FTC among other federal and non federal organizations. Anyway, the FTC has launched an official investigation on RockStar games, more info in the linky.

The FTC hasn't been ordered to investigate Rockstar. All HR376 does is let the FTC know that the House of Representatives would like them to conduct an investigation into whether or not Rockstar lied to the ESRB. It's not a command or anything like that.

But they didn't lie. There is no way, without someone modifying the game, for you to see the sex scene.

Oh god, I just can't stop laughing. It's just fine if you chop heads off, remove limbs with a chainsaw, overrun a cop and set him on fire with a flamethrower afterwards, but the slightest glimpse of skin will corrupt a childrens mind. riiiight.

Here's what they don't want you to see.

I know, it's stupid. Lazy programmers? Yes. Intentional bypassing? I doubt it. In any case, they aren't the only ones who leave unused code and data on the retail discs, and the game still has to be hacked to access the information.

Have you heard of whom Jack Thompson is going after now? EA for Sims 2, because someone has hacked the game to remove the blur over people when they go to the bathroom. When EA responded that there aren't any genetalia on the in game models anyway (just a smooth surface, like girls' dolls), Thompson replied that there must be genetalia, or else EA wouldn't have put blurs over the characters in the first place. Gotta love that logic.

I love how it's ok to have a MA rating for gory blood and violence in a game where you go on rampaging massacres, kill cops, assassinate drug lords, use prostitutes, dismember pedestrians, sell drugs, use car bombs, rob trains, hijack trucks, rob houses, steal cars and any other imaginable felony, but show some skin colored 3D boobies and all hell breaks loose. There aren't even any genitalia rendered! I've checked, I have the hack!

I love how violence is A-OK but consensual sex between adults is HEY-NO WAY!

Have you guys watched "South Park - Bigger, longer and uncut"? All this talk reminds me of the scene where Sheila Broflowski (Kyle?s mom) says: " Just Remember what the MPAA says: Horrific deplorabe violence is OK, as long as people don?t say any naughty words".

BLAME CANADA! :canadian:

Yeah, times like these are times in which I want to live in another country. I'm sorry, but I agree, all the games on the market now have 17+ ratings have things much worse. All of this basically comes down to parents who are too lazy (or stupid) to watch what their children are doing, and telling the government they have to do it for them. If you don't want your child playing violent video games (or in this case adult content in games), don't buy it for them, don't screw with my ability to play those games, by getting it pulled from stores and sale restricted to the point of having to have a DNA sample to get it (it's not happened yet, but if the dumb parents get their way, it could happen).

Luckily I already have my copy of GTA:SA (and have had it for a while, since I bought the PS2 version on release).

I wouldnt have a problem showing my drivers license if asked when I buy a mature rated game. If we had parents doing their job we wouldnt need this non-sense. I know some family members of mine that buy their kids teen and M-rated games and dont notice the game they bought them or care about the ratings. Good job!!

Just remeber this name if it should come up in 2008 for some reason,

The additional content drew fire from several politicians including Sen. Hillary Clinton.

That was,
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D) from NY

Okay folks! ;)

Stupid media blowing things out of proportion, then the gov't takes action.

Sometimes I really hate the way my country works. And this is one example.

Why can't we focus on other things, like food for the poor and helping africa out.

Is there any country that some moralist hasn't reported Grand Theft Auto to the police? They did here anyway, but the police didn't bother to investigate, case closed.

A friend of mine used to work in a videogame store, and when he informed parents that bought the game that it's violent, only for adults etc, he usually got yelled at "don't you think I can't decide what is good for my kid blablabla".
Same happened to me when I temped at Free Record Shop before christmas, except the guy only smiled and said "I know". I even saw a kid picking out the game, and the father went and paid for it.

The game is rated, so if the parents can't control what their kid's doing, well, they can't blame Rock Star or the store.

The Federal Trade Commission, basically what it's name states, controls aspects of internal and external trade, for the most part. In conjunction with the FDA, they basically control the pharmaceutical indu$try. :)

We'll both be on the frontline campaigning against that bitch

NEW YORK (AP) -- A woman upset that she bought the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" for her 14-year-old grandson without knowing it contained hidden, sexually explicit scenes sued the manufacturer Wednesday on behalf of consumers nationwide.

Someone needs to slap this bitch.

She's bitching about finding sexual content in the game when she bought it for her 14 year old grandson?

Not to mention it's the fucking PS2 version, which is harder to crack into. Money hungry old hag.

"I bought my 14 year old son a video game that is recommended for adults, where you kill cops and pedestrians, sell drugs and get hookers, but I had no idea it had SEX in it! outrage!"
