Question. Not a discussion.

How hard is it (since the early 90s) to get a citizen ship in Germany. The way I remember from the early 90s is that it was next to impossible to get a German citizenship.

Have things changed since then?? Or still the same.

Thanks.

Yes. Really want to go back. I've been looking for jobs through RIM already and they have a few positions open which I could qualify for in a couple of years with ease.

you can always buy one if you got the right amount of $$ :p that is if you're filthy rich

I don't know any specifics, but I know that Germany accepts 1 million immigrants/year now, which is more than the rest of Europe combined.

They have a really bad negative population growth, so their future workforce is going to be very thin.

Overall, you shouldn't have much trouble.

 @ logo.

Thanks for the info UKD. Didn't know that.

Actually... I'm interested too... I know you could get citzenship if you marry someone in the country... But to my understanding you can only get a work permit for a year... can you get pernament living situations?

you can only get a work permit for a year if you're not german!? hmm does that apply to most european countries? or just germany, cause that sucks. A country should give permanent living situations for a man with a job contract, but if the job contract is for a year only.. than thats not permanent if you think about it lol :p maybe there are some cases? hmm i'd go to south of France to work and live if i were you, its beautiful there.

I'm from Germany, and I can only tell you: I don't have a clue...

But I think it won't be any problem. Soooo much ppl are coming to Germany...

//edit: I did a littel search and came across nothing official, only some forums, but if you got a job in Germany, the rest seems to be easy... Just go and get your papersor something...

It's a little bit more complicated. There must be no German who could do your future job. While this sounds impossible, it's actually not that difficult to prove. You might get in trouble though if your job doesn't contain a certain expertise from your side ie. cashier... If I were you I would try to get my european passport back. I don't know how poland handles this, but it might be worth a shot.

Hw is Holland better  . It's exactly as Swek says in holland as well...

I am planning on getting my Polish passport so at least I'll be eligible to work in the EU without any problems. And I will be specializing in something for sure. I'm planning to get training for that. :)

And guys, all your suggestions are great. I wouldn't mind Holland or France. Europe is an overall beautiful continent. Used to live there one.

Okay, you might want to check the work exceptions for Poles. I'm not 100%
certain about it but I remember that the new EU members don't have the same rights as the old members (residence wise). What I understood is that the German gouvernment was afraid that we would be swamped with cheap labour from eastern European countries if they would enjoy the same rights. However this is only intended as a temporary solution
and I'm not entirely sure if it's a provision just for Germany.

Okay. I'll look into that. Still going to get my passport since it will make it much more easier for me.

Dude, I remember you said in some other thread you lived in Teisnach... So come back to beautiful Bavaria... Feel free to drop by then in my place in Regensburg or Eggenfelden...

Just come to Quebec before we separate, it's a beautiful province/country and we're quite european even if we're not on the same continent, you won't have any problems coming here or finding a job, and it's still Canadian money ;)

From what I understand, in the past, the only way to be granted German citizenship was if you had German blood. Now that Europeans are too tired to make babies they're opening the doors wide and clear for immigrants to come rushing in. If I ever visit Europe in the future it might start to look like Canada with minorities all over the place.

I'd definitely visit you guys in Germany. No doubt about it ;)

Ren, Quebec is still an option. Don't get your hopes up
