Thought I'd share it with you. The original PM TT sent me is in full, but spread among my reply. At least he was nice about it.

Hello, we saw your recent topics and posts about your website and the vids you "host" or better, the torrents you post.

Nothing against it of course and we appreciate your kind offers, BUT, on JW our main aim is to have a lively community not a simple sharing device and we are not trying to be affiliated with other websites for back up or something.

I was under the wrong impression about this site then. I mean, I know most sites work to create a community, but I thought sharing stuff was part of that. My bad then.

I suppose you will soon start having also the new 5th and Top Gear episodes on your website and since we offer them too, to a part of the community as a bonus, of course we prefer not to have people offering the same stuff in the forums.

Correct, but I was under the impression that most people here do not have access to the videos you guys offer due to bandwidth constraints (which I completely understand BTW. The first version of my site offered them via HTTP and quickly used all of my bandiwdth for the month.) My goal was to provide the episodes to those who would not otherwise be able to view them (as they don't post here enough or whatever) and not to steal traffic, users, etc. from your guy's site. Anyone who believes that is sadly mistaken.

You know, we try very hard to encourage an activity on the board over the whole range of the forums and we don't want to risk and see the vids and offers section exploding with interests with people coming here just to share videos or worst, just to come in search of an url or torrent. Beside, we really hate torrents!

That's actually quite sad that you look down on Torrents. They are a very useful and server bandwidth saving distribution method. May I ask why you guys dislike them?

And BTW, am I wrong or on your website people can make a donation to download Jabba's rips (or some of the at least)?
To be honest... your "donation" thing is just making money thanks to others... we can't really stop you of course, but at least avoid posting urls to your website on JW from now on..

BTW do you realize that asking money for complete episodes is very risky? If BBC would find out that could ruin things for everybody... try to think about it and about your "donation" maybe.

I've thought about it and I figured it would not be a problem. None of the money goes into my pocket, all of it goes right back into server, TV tuner, etc. costs.

Not to mention I believe the quasi-legal readme I have in place explains this and shows my true intentions.

Thanks for the concern, but I believe the BBC and Five TV would be understanding as they are not being sold and therefore they are not loosing any potential money.

I know sharing can be considerd part of the community, but if we give vids only to a selected group it's not only to save bandwidth since we have anyway quite enough. It's simply because we don't want to give them to everybody. So you can see why we don't like people sharing them or posting new urls to them even if hosted by them. At least on JW.

As for torrents, well, we probably hate them because since JW opened, people kept suggesting to use them and blah blah... we never had the need and of course we prefer regular hosting. Again, bandwidth is not an issue, we really don't need torrents, that's all. Torrets are usefull if you want to share with LOT of people, like p2p are.. but well, we're not into that.

Anyway, thanks for your reply and for understanding.

I am truely amazed at the attitude shown by TT in this exchange of messages. Sure a lot of people post at JW, but most of the time the posts are trivial at best and most people only post to get their post count up in the hope they will be admitted to the inner sanctum. I post there but only if I have something to say, not shit like "wow that is a great vid, downloading now" or some such garbage. They seem to think they are the only site on the net that has videos. I have managed to get most of the vids I am after even on my slow dial-up without ever downloading from JW. Makes me think the site over there is just to stroke a few giant egos. As for the crap about "payment", I haven't seen him complain about the subscriptions on racingflix. In all a strange reaction to your attempt to take some pressure of those two sites. Very weird! If they don't want to share then why bother with a site at all, they could just have a private club instead of making out they have something special that other do not.

Keep up the good work on this site, it is a much more civilized place.

Well, I guess different ppl have different opinions and have a different way of doing stuff. Our forum is starting well and the torrent dl are working ok. So I guess we'll juz mind our own business and concentrate on making our site a success. Forget about wat others gotta say.

all in all, TT is not a bad guy and JW is a nice place but there is a diff attitude their and if they don't want to be affiliated with us then that's no problem with us. They do their thing we do our thing and that is that.

very true, why have the vids publicly viewed if only some people can get them? why not have it hidden and only viewable to those that can download? we should stop or consider changing the donations but paying a monthly fee is overlooked? very hypocritical. but that's the way they want their site ran, so be it.

i knew after seeing the title of this thread that there would be a few (if not many) of you ready to jump on the bandwagon and start bashing the way things are run over there. this incident was a bit of a misunderstanding between TT and viper but that is absolutely no grounds to start site-vs-site bashing. grow up, c'mon you don't like the place, FINE, you don't gotta go there, but if any of you knew what you were talking about then you'd realize that jw is a good community and the way things are run over there are run that way for a REASON, and you can blame the leechers and ungrateful fucks (like a few of you) for making it that way. but seriously, you won't see anyone at JW bashing viperforums, so why is there any need for anyone at the viperforums to bash JW? that's a supreme lack of immaturity imo. anyone with any sense realizes that both sites are a rather fine compliment to eachother, and it doesn't have to be a well-my-site-is-better-than-your-site deal. my guess is that the ones talking shit about JW are the leeching ungrateful fucks i was referring to, mad and jealous that they couldn't get access to the vault so you had to turn anti-JW in spite. let's exercise a bit of maturity here anyone?

although i dont like the way some, SOME things are done their, it is a good forum and we shouldnt turn the PM to viper into a negative competitive, this-site-is-better-bullshit. even if the PM does prove somewhat, my discontent with some of the negative things at JW.

I believe that both site members have the right to their own opinions. But I dun support site bashing. So if any of the posts seem to be flaming, I will not hesistate to edit or delete the post.
